Our mission this year is to create a better working environment that is free from power harassment and moral harassment, free from unnecessary stress, and stable in terms of money and time, and although it is still small-scale, we are slowly taking shape. It's only the first year, so we'll be steadily building our foundation, and we should be able to release it soon. https://twitter.com/r_nkym_/status/1728012880854040908

so who will be the next director?

chainsaw man might not even come out for atleast 4-5 years, given the current situation of MAPPA. Unless any other party is interested in funding the chainsawman project (possibly a remake since season 1 IP belongs to MAPPA alone),I dont see it coming anytime soon.

Nakayama did a great job for Chainsaw Man.
What a waste of MAPPA and a vocal minority criticizing it.

At this point krappa should just quit trying to animate all the projects that they hv taken and give Jjk and other big series like csm to some other studio who will actually put love and care into animating them cuz I don’t see how they can animate csm s2 right after Jjk s2 ends when the situation is this dire to the point that they hv to pump out incomplete episodes.

A big panel is planned at Jump Festa and Fujimoto's editor said there will be some big things.
Anime is a possibility.

Just curious, why would there be a remake? Couldn't the new studio just pick it up where Mappa left off?

Nah, Hayashi and Yabuta are still at MAPPA and they have SIGNIFICANTLY better schedules for shows in those Production pipelines. It's only the Seshimo pipeline getting fucked, but if he just leaves the studio I don't think Otsuka is gonna be crazy enough to take up big IPs without a good Animation Producer that can rival the likes of Yuuichi Fukushi (OPM, Frieren AniP)
And then there's the secondary pipeline under Ogawa (the one making Bucchigiri) which is pumping out underdog bangers back to back with an insignificant staff list, which means they're in production heaven.

@JaysonNnN it’s clear that they voted with their wallets that they weren’t big on the direction that the Chainsaw Man anime took.

Which is absolutely tragic for me.
I think it worked well and the majority still appreciated the anime more than the other way around.

@JaysonNnN People are defintely mixed, but it is Chainsaw Man, so it's not that hated. Manga fans weren't huge on the changes tho.

I've been a fan of the manga that I've been reading since the beginning, and everyone I know who is like me loved the adaptation.
I understand that people liked it less, that's normal, but it must be admitted that the majority liked it, otherwise there would be no request for follow-up or such a good overall rating from the public.
After people don't like it, as long as they're not hateful I have nothing to say, and above all don't make me believe that there are more people who are disappointed than people who like it.

Ding dong, the witch is dead. Best news I've heard all day. Good riddance.

@ZXEAN Cause most of us didn't WANT cinema, we wanted anime. With all the bombastic reactions and colors that's expected. Not some muted, subdued art film.

@DmonHiro pure and utter BS, that's not the majority, the majority (counting the West and Japan) liked the direction of the anime.

@banshee229 Oh, is THAT why the sales were trash, the studio said it didn't make as much money as they hoped, the 2nd season delayed and the director changed? Because the majority LIKED it? Nice reasoning.

@MovieDogg It's perfect just colored manga panels. Best adaptation ever.
