In the world of fanfiction, you can surely see a lot of written, text-only stories, based on popular franchises (be it anime or not). Sometimes you bump into fancomics longer than just short gags with grotesque characters, resembling more the original series they derivate from (i.e. self-published works of art, or in short: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Doujinshi]doujinshi).

That being said, the rarest thing to encounter are surely fanmade animated series. Not short animations or motion comics, but fully fledged series consisting of at least several episodes with reasonable length, reminding of something eligible to be aired on TV.

Here are two series based on well-known and popular series that I am personally a fan of (and which I highly recommend as well, by the way):

Saint Seiya: Prelude of Pegasus by Hakuren Studios

Animated project presenting very high quality. It is meant to tell a story taking place after the events of Saint Seiya: Tenkai-hen movie. Awesome looking animation, very good voice acting (Spanish, with English subtitles available). There will be more episodes released in the future, but the first episode looks promising enough to be really hyped up about the upcoming ones. Especially if someone is a fan of the original anime. This project respects its legacy and is heavily inspired by it, from art to direction. What's more, as sequels (no matter if they are fanmade, or not) usually do, it presents new, fresh ideas, fitting the general atmosphere of Saint Seiya. Speaking about the show from 1980s, fans of designs created by Michi Himeno and Shingo Araki will surely love it, as the artists from Hakuren Studios did a fantastic job emulating their style. It was definitely worth waiting for.

Dragon Ball Deliverance by FRAME ONE

Another awesome lookimg fanmade animation of a classic shounen series. Very well animated fights with really good choreography are accompanied with art and sounds reminding of good old Dragon Ball Z anime. Its art is obviously inspired by the original show, however, you can see some differences here or there. It makes the Deliverance series' art special in its own right. Easily noticeable and distinguishable changes in the art reminds of evolution between the art styles from each official animated installments of Dragon Ball. Its story itself is fresh and is fleshed out nicely, with good writing and interesting characters. It feels like an arc and is entertaining to watch. Going back to the production quality, each next episode looks better than the previous one. Episode 4, the latest one, looks simply stellar.

So, do you watch any "animated fanfics" yourself? If yes, then what are your favorite fanmade animated series?

there's a naruto and sakura hentai which legit looks better than the orignal naruto series itself. even the voice acting is top-notch.

The end of an era. Thank you Wit, Mappa and Isayama.
Feeling half happy, half sad.
