Rina mentions that Hiroto will not have a reason to be protected by the headmistress when they find out about the fake Sarasa lie. Why would the protection matter when even if the lie does get out, it's not like the grandfather would get mad at him because she's not the real Sarasa in the first place. Hiroto himself even says that in the first episode. The headmistress also wouldn't be able to frame Hiroto that he illegally beat the so-called "Empress" to get him off the island because she's not the real Sarasa anyway. So he literally would be able to stay on the island even without the protection, he'd just lose the privileges he has of being the fake Seven Stars. From how I see it, in reality, isn't the only one who gets hurt from the lie getting exposed the real Sarasa's reputation? This has been bugging me, so can anyone enlighten me?

i have not read manga or whatever from which it is based, just giving a philosophical and psychological view.
Suppose the lie goes out about fake Sarasa, now what will happen. Hiroto might lose his seven star reputation and Rina will be humiliated, this is the first thing that comes in mind. But if we look further than it will reveal the facilities that the school was providing to these two i.e. humiliation of school authority. Second the two girls who are working for the protection of Hiroto will be exposed, bow think (especially of that hacker girl) what will happen to those two (who were collectively defeated highly ranked players), their personal security and privacy will be destroyed.
Third out MC's dream girl's dream will be pushed further away.
Fourth and the most important, the company will search for real Sarasa, by which Rina's (whom Hiroto has already shown interest) promise will be broken which will be bad

and if it happens the story's development between Hiroto and Rina will abruptly change where Rina might have to leave the island

“But in reality everything you see is but a mountain of lies”
“People don’t believe how much of what they hear is a lie”
“The thorn of a god— the red star’s power is to turn any lie into reality”

Aren’t these all quotes from this show (probably), isn’t the show’s name literally just Liar Liar? For what the post is concerned with, it is for the most part unintelligible given the many spirals you zoom through. To what I can interpret; i’ll add this:

From what we know of Mr. Grandpa— he will become somewhat hysterical for the eternal blemish to his daughter’s reputation (defeated by a 1 star).

MC must stay a fake 7 star to find whoever he’s looking for and protect fake Sarasa’s lie (Kidnapped the real Sarasa)

As for the headmistress— we all know she knows whatever we think she does not know, the entire thing is so obviously contrived by someone (her).

Ask me in a more organised and precise manner if there be anything you’re still befuddled by.

Ah, well the TLDR of my question is "Why does Hiroto care so much about keeping the protection when he can still stay on the island even without it? (Mainly because he already knows the Saionji grandfather won't get mad for a fake Sarasa)"

So the TLDR of my answer’ll be that it’s a convenience to achieving his purpose and as alluded by the third episode— he’s putting up a facade of indifference and therefore does have more human motives. Also, while I do understand that it’s mawkish and corny— you’re completely missing the current dynamic.

“wE mUsT PrOtEcT EaCh OtHeEr`s LiEs!!”

MC won’t just show up and be like:
<Hey, imma have no need to live this opulent life being the centre of everyone’s attention anymore— have someone steal my red star already pls pls or I snitch on your criminal band>

The author really didn’t think that deeply about it, buddy.

That’s the one truth about this show.

The fact that someone else thought the same way reassures me, honestly.

The whole reason they are doing this fake Sarasa thing is because the grandfather wants to save face until they find her, or whatever. The "red star" reveals previous lies to the current holder (or something like that) so MC has knowledge that theres a fake Sarasa in the first place. They want to prevent the whole thing making headlines aka save face, so thats why they are basically threatening him to cooperate, no?

Edit: Oh, I get what your saying. Ignore the above I guess. I think that was just a nonsensical line from the MC/author. Because if the principal was not lying about the grandfather, then they would absolutely target the protag for the reasons of not wanting the real Sarasa secret to get out and for a one star nobody humiliating the Saionji group in their own school. Maybe theres some omission from the anime, but Id say the principal still has leverage over protag-kun for "her plans™" (whatever they are) and he wouldnt want to risk backing out assuming his logic to be correct, or that the principal was lying to him about the grandfather.

Either way, agreed that its convoluted.
