| Basically, watch more shows targeted at female audiences. If the characters are in the late elementary / early middle-school age range, it's more likely than not that periods, first or otherwise, will make an appearance at some point. Like the other works mentioned above, Kodocha also fits this pattern. A lot of the time in these coming-of-age stories, there's a "damned if you do, damned if you don't" dynamic at play -- girls known to be experiencing menstruation get mocked as gross or whatever, but girls who haven't gone through menarche get dragged for being childish/immature. Same goes with breast growth / wearing a bra. |
| well, how many anime characters did you see uses the toilet? some characters get stuck in the same place for more than one episode but don't need to use it even after eating too much food |
