I have been trying to read a bit more manga, always have the hang up of finding a new series to start, so I tend to stick with the same author and try to find a different series that he or she was written.
For example enjoyed reading oyasumi punpun so I read solanin (which both are fantastic series)

What's a good way to vast into more manga??

Look at MAL recommendations, ask on the forums, ask irl friends who read manga, YouTube manga recommendation videos
I'm either crashing out or fujoing out.

Look for a genre that you like. For example I found out that I absolutely love romance manga. After that I just go to the website where I can read manga (Legally or Illegally) and then click on the romance tag. It gives me an endless variety of romance manga recently updated and I read whichever I find interesting.
Another method I use is by Mal's recommendation. Pretty useful to find new manga.
If you enjoyed the time you wasted, then its not a waste of time.

Check for new updates and read everything that seems interesting

Or ask for recommendations.

The manga reading challenge might be a good place to start.

Or just look at my planning, lol.

Join a manga community, ask for recommendations or add other people's favorites to your read list imo

I do this a few different ways

1. Migrate your mal to anime-planet, it has the best recommendation algorithm in my opinion, I use it very often.

2. Whatever you use to read and catalog manga and anime on, use the genre filters and mix and match stuff. Anime planet and anilist have a very good tagging system that's worth toying with.

3. Instead of searching by your favorite author like you do, you can also try searching that magazines and publishers they are under and explore those as well.

Here are few ways I find new manga:

  1. Browse new updates on manga reading sites you use.
  2. Look at recommendations on MAL/Anilist (either based no manga you like or on forums)
  3. There are manga recommendations on YT
  4. You can use anibrain.ai to find random manga (pick ones with cover that looks interesting to you)

Try researching the magazines in which the manga you liked was published. It's how I've found some rare stuff; MAL clubs are good, too, since they are focused on particular "types" of manga. Some MAL reccomendations are honestly very useful, the ones made by users at least -the automatic ones blow-.

I think it is a good idea to look for works that interest you, such as MAL rankings or works that are said to be popular now, and check the synopsis to see if they match your tastes before reading them.

I have recently started to check the synopsis and see if it fits my taste before reading it, because there were few works recommended by others that suited me.

I hope that you will find a manga that you will enjoy.

I have found that the manga recommendations that MAL gives to you are not the best. I find manga to read by looking at r/manga. I prefer to sort by new and find a manga with an interesting name or one that looks appealing before reading three chapters from the said manga.

I also find new manga to read by going to the ANIME section on MAL actually, and looking at the new seasonal shows for the current or future season, as I find that the non-sequel/original shows that have the most hype, also turn out a lot of the time to be decent reads, this is how I found out about OSHI NO KO, which is a good read, but stopped reading it myself in order to stay anime only after chapter 10.

Recommendations (in person, online, MAL on series you have read/in progress of reading and wanting to have something next to move on to),

There is some interesting ones on r/manga though won't deny that as a fair source for many new or updates to manga.

searching (I just put in words from titles and see what comes up on MAL and see what the others are, whether it works in search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, DuckDuckgo and such I don't know as could be pretty broad and not clear what your looking for than more database focused sites/community sites, it's a weird strategy but I find it useful it's how I find most of my manga ahead of time is title searching on MAL).

Apps if you read online what ones show up as recent updates.

What series appear in physical manga that the licensors also make I guess could be a fair solution.

I pretty much browse around stacks as one idea to get some new manga to add on my list.
