Ive noticed a lot recently that when anime have special screenings and premieres in Japan, they tend to get lower scores on MAL, but when they officially air later on, the score sky rockets and the episode/movie gets higher praise? Im curious as to why this happens because I also saw the same with Suzume and One piece Film red which was shown before its worldwide release and originally had low ratings and scores but got better reception when released in America, Australia etc.

Oshi No Ko had a score under 8 on MAL and when its first episode officially aired got 9.30

there was a lot of people who score bombed it with 1’s when it premiered, and scores only rose after aired.

not sure if this is the case with other movies but its the case with this one

Series without a lot of scores get weighted to the site average. It would have been number 1 back in MArch if it were properly scores just based on the scores available, but MAL doesn't want random no name series taking top spots. At the time OnK only had like 1-2K ratings so it didn't have enough to get weighted to its proper score.

Japanese people tend to give things lower numerical scores even when they think things are "good".

Also the score got all the way up to 9.39 at one point.
