no...

it's the exact same currency. in this series, it is a bit like a re-imagined prequel

Might be because the July incident hasn't happened yet.

To be fair, I thought the same thing but the series is treating the bounty the same way the original did. If you look at all the wanted posters in the bar, nobody is anywhere near the amount that Vash is at. The bar owner even said that if they had that kind of money, they could take care of the whole town. We just got to wait and see if more people come after him. It’s only episode 2 lol

If it was just a yen to dollar conversion then it would be about 100 times lower, not 10,000 times

"6" Can have negative or demonic associations, so it makes Vash sound more "bad." At least, that's my theory anyways.

Really, why reduce bounty? How that makes it anything other that some humbling him down thing.

And then they say it is just a nostalgia when people criticize more modern post 2012 shows.

Doesn’t the prosthetic arm show that the July incident did in fact happen since in the original he lost it during the July incident?

My guess is One Piece bounties maybe changed their goal and perhaps Vash is intended to have some bounty scaling upwards as he does things in this version.

In the manga he lost it way before the July incident. Since they've mentioned July two episodes in a row now I'm assuming it's gonna happen at some point and his bounty's going to skyrocket.

Wasn’t the only thing that was changed, in the original he used a long .44, but in stampede he’s got a .22

I'm under the impression that in this version, Knives is the one who's wanted for stealing plants and that Vash is mistaken for him...?

I'm guessing it's an attempt to make the bounty somewhat more grounded. The bounty in the original anime was so ludicrously high that imagining who'd even be able to pay it out strained the suspension of disbelief.

I mean there are plenty of differences between this anime and the og one, so I don’t see how a simply change in bounty is that surprising or bothersome.

as far as the double dollar goes, it's worth half a real dollar and i'd assume it's to bring numbers down to realistic levels as inflation would have caught on significantly from the 20th century to the 32nd century

the irony being that as $$60,000,000 is worth $30,000,000, since its manga publication in 1995 to the start of 2023, inflation has almost almost doubled (92%), making him now worth $58,000,000~ anyway.

I think Because "JuLai" still has a military force, it's probably safe to assume Vash and Knives haven't been there to decimate the town yet. it'll probably go up to 6billion after that.
