God of War: Ragnarok just came out. Sadly I can't play bc I don't have Playstation. But, God of War: Ragnarok is the end of the Norse Saga. So I'm wondering, where will God of War go now?

I think they will most likely go to Egypt next. In the comic "God of War: Fallen God", Kratos goes to Egypt and meets Thoth but leaves. Maybe he could return? And Cory was originally gonna go with Egyptian Mythology after Greek, but the crew chose Norse bc rich lore.

My other predictions are Shinto (Japanese), Celtic, and Aztec. They were seen in Tyr's vault after all...what do you think?

Egyptian mythology is fairly well attested, recognizeable to your average guy and it includes the all important divine drama the series needs so that's a strong choice.
Common celtic and aztec are mostly lost as far as I know although a lot of Irish mythology was preserved in the middle ages and they've got a lot of cool stories from what I've read so that could be a good one as well.

Roman

Ragnarok takes place 539 CE, the Romans would be led by Emperor Justinian The Great (until 565 CE). Now The Roman Empire accepted Christianity (& Mithraism) in 313 CE & the former wasn't the official religion of the Roman Empire until 323 CE (while Mithraists were killed by the end of the 4th century by Christians which wasn't very Christian of them). So what if it was the forgotten Roman Gods have been raging wars with the Romans for centuries through plague, famine, natural disasters, influencing enemies of the empire due to anger that the Roman Emperors are looked at as divine figures when it was the Roman Gods protecting them all along while the people they were protecting destroyed their temples & stopped looking at them as divine figures.

By the later half of the reign of Emperor Justinian The Great, Atreus would be a grown man. I think something should happen to Kratos & Atreus goes on his own adventure to destroy the Roman gods. Due to the near complete destruction of the Greek Gods caused them to reincarnate & restart the system that Kratos almost destroyed with Kratos even being older than Saturn (Jupiter's Father). I think members of the Dii Consentes (Jupiter, Juno, Neptune, Minerva, Mars, Venus, Apollo (Kratos' half-brother), Diana, Vulcan, Vesta, Mercury & Ceres) capture Kratos as they can't have a renegade Greek god running about & Atreus escapes & goes on his own journey to kill the gods.

Probably Egyptian. Celtic is too similar to Nordic in that it's very nature-focused, I don't think it would work well. Aztec would be interesting but I doubt most people can pronounce the names of any of their gods. Shinto would be cool but it's more niche than most. Egyptian would be the most probable because everyone knows a little bit of Egyptian mythology and it has the most recognizable gods.

Since Atreus is a definitive character now for the series I wonder if we'll control him in future titles. Kratos seems to be getting very old. I think whichever happens we'll be getting a huge time-skip to when Atreus is an adult.

My personal favorite would be Aztec simply because it's not a mythology commonly known.

I don't think they'll do Roman. Roman Mythology is almost the same as Greek Mythology, just different names and a few original myths. The only myths Santa Monica Studios has to work with that they haven't already is Romulus and Remus, and the Aeneid.

Nah, Ragnarok is just the end of the Norse Saga. Also, if that was the case, they wouldn't have hinted Egyptian, Japanese, and Celtic Mythologies on Tyr's mural.

I agree, Aztec is seriously underrated and underrepresented. Aztec has a fuck ton of war gods, even their patron god Huitzilopochtli is a war god. It's basically God of War heaven. I just hope they don't get Aztec and Mayan Mythology mixed up, not much similarities except between Quetzalcoatl and Kukulkan, and Tlaloc and Chaac.

Hmm Egyptian, Incan, all seem pretty good options.

If they made it less walking and not as engaging combat then I'd think about it. The gameplay prevented me from picking up Ragnarok and why I hated 2018. I didn't mind the father son relationship (even though Kratos had a family before in past games, and a brother). I didn't even remember the game had puzzles that's how much 2018 was forgettable to me. Either way.

If they made it temples or something with interesting items to use not just the axe or chains but something more interesting to use in the puzzles/combat then by all means I'd be up for that. Use with water currents or sand (sandstorms) or something like that maybe would be interesting for puzzles, cool in cutscenes for set pieces.

I think Aterus not being controllable is pretty unfortunate. Even if brief or in some arrow useful areas like for a zipline/having an arrow to fire before climibing up the rope because it's too steep the rocks. Some use. In the Jak games Daxter in 1 level in 2 & 3 always seemed weird to me which I guess is why they dropped Daxter from the title but kept the character there.

A fine character Aterus but might as well be a fine decoy or a ranger character that's kind of helpful but otherwise not as good as playing as them in some cases I think. Even for monologues or something even.

Hearing they were doing Norse with or after Ascension didn't bother me I think it was pretty cool to go Norse, sure others also did Norse before or around the same time which doesn't bother me, many games in other series covered other histories/settings too.

Setting can be whatever they want it to be just change the camera angle and combat 'let me jump of all things' and I'm in. To me the puzzles were I guess like Tomb Raider 2013+ but I remember those I don't remember GOW2018's at all.
