Pleated skirts are just the most common type of skirts used in school uniforms as they're easier for a girl to cover up her legs when sitting while still remaining elegant as compared to say a straight skirt which is a direct path into her abyss if she sits with her legs side by side rather than with crossed legs. |

| Pleated skirts are cute. They're the standard for uniforms, but Japanese girls also tend to wear skirts more often even as casual clothing than girls over here do so you'll see anime girls wearing pleated skirts even when they aren't forced to. Tamayura is the only anime that comes to mind where the skirt in their uniform isn't pleated. |

| Theyre visually interesting as well. Pain in the ass to draw tho. Wish they also had pockets in real life, very difficult to find a skirt with pockets and that is very annoying for someone like me. |
