| This episode is even more jarring 4 episodes in when you compare the action scene in this to episodes 3 and 4 which look way way better. I wonder if this will get the AoT season 4 treatment where they touch stuff up with the blu ray releases. |
| Won't lie when i say the hype for this anime has definitely set incredibly high standards for people like myself that haven't read the manga, but credit given where credit is due, this first episode i thought was top quality. Story already has me hooked, in 20 minutes i already feel sympathetic towards Denji and Pochita, they told their backstories and relationship well in 1 ep alone that i already feel emotional towards them. Visuals idk its fucking Mappa so its beyond good. SFX was great, but the voice acting was amazingly good. From what i've heard most of the VA's (<i>like Denji's</i>) are not very well known or debuting their careers, and holy shit rlly good first impressions. Unless cus of budget, props to mappa for not getting big names, In general i hope for good things, not cus of hype, but cus it dosen't hurt anyone for a new amazing anime to come out besides maybe the Mappa employees. |

| That was a epic first episode in the dark genre after death note. Very well executed episode and am hoping for next episodes to be more than epic. |

| This was actually better than I had expected. I had assumed it would be inferior to the manga due to the annoying tropes most shounen anime have, but to my surprise they actually took it seriously. The violence was glorious, something you definitely would not expect in a shounen anime. The soundtrack during the flashback wasn't some cheesy shounen background music but an actually great trippy track, very good. The pacing is also fixed, allowing us to actually take time to understand Denji's situation. The situation and chance of paths he goes through really come out and hit harder than it did in the manga. His reactions to things, the tensions, the gloomy atmosphere, it was great. I dare say this amplified some aspects of the manga. However. The only flaws I have are that the Zombie Devil's voice is incredibly odd. Awful almost. Very generic and barely terrifying, a distorted and warped voice would work so much better, rather than some generic low-effort shounen monster style voice. The music playing in the background during Denji's fight with the zombies as well as the zombie devil was literally the most disappointing thing I've came across in quite a long time. There was literally no creative liberty taken with that one, the music was basically 'YouTube cool rock sound royaltee free music'. I had Number Girl's 'Tattoo Ari' playing in my head when reading the manga, an actually amazing and hyped up song of pure rock and madness. To see that the anime used some sort of cheap royalty-free music was just awful. The fight's animation was wonderful, but it did not have that batshit crazy feeling the manga had, it was toned down severely. Otherwise, good episode. 7/10. Would have been a definite 8 if the flaws above were fixed. Also, Makima's voice is perfect regardless of what anyone says. |

| It was pretty good, although i thought Denji's voice would be more boyish, its too deep imo. But it still works. No complains regarding makima or pochita. |
