Looks really good just everyone became a professional CGI animator all of a sudden since Chainsaw Man came out so they think they can tell good from bad CGI 😆😆😆😆

Honestly the cgi looked alright just not for me not saying it’s bad at all just didn’t like how jarring it was in his chainsaw form. It looked Fucking beautiful when MAPPA used it for some of the characters tho. But yeh not a fan of his chainsaw form as it felt like it just stuck out way to much and I felt it felt really clunky. But that’s my taste don’t let some rando on the internet tell you what to think just my opinion

I've seen a bunch of anime which had some CGI or were fully CGI and it's not something I enjoy in anime overall but I gotta say that I didn't mind it here at all. It was fine for me. Also, the weird, stiff movements when Denji fought zombies is basically him trying to get used to the chainsawman form since he can't control it that well (at least that's what I think) so it kinda would make sense.

OK, as for me CG is good unless you notice it. The real high quality CG with motion tracking is extremely expensive. In chainsawman I notice CG every time it appears (70% of timeline, ruining all immersion) maybe it's better than most of other CG anime but it's still awful, horrible clunky movements, zombies looking like dolls, I don't consider CG an anime, because it's not an animation it's a fucking CG. When makima looked at denji for the first time I swear I thought my video lagged and stopped playing. You know what,even mappa knows it's fucking trash because they showed us all best moments in trailers and guess what, they were 2D Lmao. Demon slayer, magic battle got an amazing adaptations and we got this garbonzo, but of course go praise this mappa burp, so they will ruin more titles in future 👍

I think the whole episode was a 2.5D animation (a merge between 3DCG and 2D). The fact that no one noticed that not only the fight scenes seem to be done with CGI speaks for the excellent job MAPPA did with the CGI in the whole episode.

It all looked good to me. There was only one scene where he was covered in blood and the camera was slowly going around him that looked a bit off to me. The rest was 10/10 FIRE.

yup, there are people who think this. as much as I love CSM, it gives me big Berserk 2016 CGI vibes, Denji looked awful imo. I hope MAPPA does more 2D fighting or at least the later CGI looks better....

The CGI wasn't bad but noticeable and jarring. Denji in CGIsaw form is fine when it's fast paced but they had to stretch out Chapter 1 for this episode causing it to linger on the CGI and making it noticeable.

I just think it’s amazing DESPITE the cgi, and people understandably defend the cgi only because they loved the episode as a whole but clearly it isn’t the best thing about the anime and it be way better if (And I fully understand it would be pretty much impossible) it could be animated without cgi. Any fanboy that tells you they wouldn’t prefer it without cgi would be lying to you.

Overall great first episode decent use of cgi if they have to do it at least it wasn’t as bad as it could be and we’ll probably get used to it. Looking forward to next ep.

Some of the CGi was bad. Some of it was fine. One shot that really stood out was when he was just standing there looking at the zombies right before he became CSM for the first time. Zero movement in that shot and they used a really cheap looking CGI model and it looked bad and lazy.

The CGI is terrible.
I genuinely don't know how anyone with functional eyes and standards for their media anywhere above bedrock could say that this, this, or this, looks good.
MAPPA completely dropped the ball on putting out any kind of tolerable 3D-CGI here. Its ugly and composited terribly into the 2D surroundings.

I just don't think CGI looks good in anime, it makes it look like a video game. Give me the choice between good hand-drawn anime and the best CGI ever created and i'll take the hand drawn, CGI just doesn't feel like anime to me, at least not in it's current state.

It wasn't bad but it was very "in your face" at some moments, and there was plenty of sequences that didn't needed to be done in cgi, so the fear here it's about MAPPA overdoing it with the cgi in moments that should be simply 2d

There's no 2D, everything is 2.5D. Only the scenes where there's absolutely no movement at all could be said to be "fully 2D". Every scene where there's movement is CGI with a 2D layer on top, which makes it 2.5D.

CGI most definitely wasn't great. I've seen a lot worse, yeah. It isn't terrible though, definitely passable, but I'd by no means defend it. Given the choice I'd definitely take no cgi. It's certainly jarring with the constant switching back and forth.

But at the same time, I generally hate CGI in all Anime. It's never something I want. That's just my opinion.
Objectively though, it just never looks AS good.

(The only Anime I've seen where I'd actually outright praise the CGI is Kingsglaive FFXV. That's a damn masterclass.)

The CGI looked okay I guess for the characters, but 2D would've looked a lot better in my opinion. That being said, the camera movement in the warehouse was super impressive that would've been super difficult to do without a lot of CGI.

The cgi isn't perfect and I completely understand if cgi in general turns you off or you're over cgi base stuff, but this is better than 90% of other cgi using shows(anime). Yes, some of the movements were a little stiff and its hard to mesh 2d and cgi, but there was alot of shots that looked great for cgi standards. If we compare this to berserk cgi it's a 10/10 easy.

The adaptation of this episode (cgi aside) was fantastic and anyone who bashes this episode due to the use of cgi should be ashamed. Mappa has put alot of effort into this and it's a job well done. As a manga reader I am very pleased with this first episode.

I think the CGI looked the best I’ve ever seen CGI be. I think this is the closest I’ve ever gotten to not noticing the CGI. If we can one day get it like one step better I think nobody will care anymore. For me it was just the weird moving around slow moments that caught my eye and confused me.

--> it is not a fair comparison because studios are generally known for using the best scenes in any trailer to hype people up.

Personally all I care about is the plot + pacing

But I really do think that if you dont like csm cgi probably you dont like cgi in general.
