Completed yesterday, found it better than 95s one honestly. But I can't clearly make sense for why this movie have "Innocence" in title. The only thing that gives me some sense, is when the young girl yelled "I don't want to become a doll" and then Kusanagi says that dolls would also yell "I don't want to become Human". Is it to say that humans aren't guilty to keep our humanity tact even it causes us to make immoral decisions and it makes humans innocent?

Anyway, share your thoughts too. Since this movie doesn't seem to be talked about much. I really liked background art in this movie. It's as dialogue heavy as the 95 one but I think this was more interesting than 1995 GiTS movie.

I've thought about this question before too, but couldn't think of an answer. I like your interpretation.

It probably has something to do with the tagline on the poster being 「イノセンス それは、いのち。」 (innocence sore wa, inochi) where inochi seems to mean "the most important part or aspect of a thing, most important thing" given the context. The word usually refers to "life", which happens to be the most important thing to us, so I guess that's where the figurative usage comes from.

I can't really comment as to why "innocence" specifically since it's been a while since I've watched the movie...
