You can have background characters who can be warriors and fodder,a character is someone who has an impact on the story

I didn't care too much about her but i don't hate her either. She doesn't stand out much, for me the best female character was Annie and when it comes to design, Historia and Hitch are the most attractive. Mikasa just comes off as a potato most of the time but i do like that she's a badass female character with a convincing reason behind her skill and not just girl power for the sake of being woke.

In my opinion, Mikasa isn’t one of the best female characters of all time. Now hear me out. She is very strong and I really like the scenes where she is kicking butt, but she doesn’t really have a personality besides simping over Eren. I really wish that her character would be more explored and that she would have more emotions and thoughts, other than “mUsT pRoTeCt eReN.”

It has effects on Ackerman, you see when Levi was injured lying on there beside Hanji, for a moment they found themselves on path when Eren was saying message to eldians.

Isayama brilliantly kept her behind the shadows,from the very beginning of the story ,giving her no development,her only quirks being that she is a warrior who fights well and plus she is an Ackerman who has a wierd connection to the yeagers

If you pay close attention to every time Mikasa is on screen ,you will realise that she is always not being in the moment ,She is only triggered by Eren everytime

Her obsession for Eren is what brings her in character,Her emotional complexity far surpasses that of a normal character when eren is around

So if Eren is not around Mikasa is not mentally in the anime ,she just is there to fill in other characters ,whenever the situation is right she is not fazed ,scared or being human ,it's as if the titans are just a of cattle for her
Like cows and buffaloes

Mikasa is not from this world ,she is either an alien or the actual founding Titan with human like characteristics

When it came to the rumbling arc every other character is scared ,tensed ,and have the feeling of anxiety etc etc,but Mikasa she had no emotions ,the only emotional weight on her was how Eren treated her

If Eren can see memories ,Mikasa is the fuel that helps those memories

What i am going to say next in the spoiler section might give you a proper insight on why ,If AOT is to be called a masterpiece ,then here is how we need to interpret Mikasa

To prove this point about Mikasa I highly suggest you read some psychological manga of psychopaths,i am not saying Mikasa is a psychopath ,but Mikasa could be Something ELSE

In psychological manga especially manga like chi no wadachi(blood on the tracks) it just shows how The mc is influenced by his mother through psychological stress ,Mikasa could be doing the same thing but BEHIND THE SCENES For some unknown reason

It could also be that Mikasa is a psychopath??

My conclusion is Mikasa is the actual FOUNDING TITAN

Another question is, how was Eren able to summon Mikasa to the paths if it has no effect on Ackermans??

It has effects on Ackerman, you see when Levi was injured lying on there beside Hanji, for a moment they found themselves on path when Eren was saying message to eldians.
The thing is only the memory altering thing of founding Titan doesn't have any effect on Ackerman.

I mean i like the ending and all but mikasa is probably the worst written character i have seen in all entertainment history
