| Wow that last trap had some serious time delay after activating the mechanism and the trap activating. How convient that it activated just after they were warned about it... |

| Wahhh - the direction in this episode has to be some of the worst ever. That opening shot is horrendous; it looks cheap and made me dizzy. I had to look away from the TV. It continues throughout the eisode too with all kinds of poorly framed closeups with no breathing room. The stuff with the hunter wasn't much better, due to both his odd design and those quick closeups and fast panning. Also the stuff with Yahiko seemed really out of nowhere or maybe I just totally forgot that he was drinking lots of water? I figured he was a spy or something, though the result was... weird. And why would she need an exact disguise of that guy anyway? Lots of shortcuts taken with dialogue animations + many faceless people. Sound design seemed lazy. Gravity- what? The one thing I kind of liked was the musick when they pulled the pillars out of the ground. Of course then a bridge appears somehow and we see a shot of the ground looking all barren followed by a shot showing the woods we've been seeing in every other scene. A device - what? Yutaro jumping into the dungeon was the only exciting thing. The water looked so bad; it's like all of the art design and animation, which I thought was looking better and better until this arc, really took a nosedive. Everything is so dull looking. Anyway, back in the dungeon, Kaoru falls and opens a secret door that contains a Raiders of the Lost Arc boulder trap (wtf?) that Sano punches. Then little boulders appear, Sano gets scared (wtf?) and Kenshin cuts them in two. A terrible argument, a terrible joke, then a stone bridge crumbles. Everyone quits searching in the most boring way possitble, and then Yutaro places the doctor's rock into a hole. A face appears in the rock, because it absorbed water (wtf?). Magick happens causing fire to appear and rocks to move. There is some cool musick. Bad guys appear. Kenshin reveals that he knew it was a trap the whole time but went along with it for some reason. Everyone falls into a pit. What a mess. |
