To change the subtitles to be more clear and not include any dialect or accent, download a program called SubtitleEdit then download this: patebin link and change the file extension to .template. Then import the file into the "multiple replace" tool (ctrl+alt+m) and hit apply+ok then save the sub file and open in your video player.

Enjoy when ye don' hafta red' subs lie' tis'

I just find it hard to read and I did download 3 different subtitles and all of them were like that so just got a bit fed up with it.

I have no problem with accents or dialects but for me the point of subtitles is to be clear and easily understandable but with every other word being shortened or somehow modified makes it harder to read and it got annoying really fast.

I like the subtitles the way they are. Kansai dialect is useless to most people who don’t understand Japanese and it will just go over there head. It feels more true to the characters with the accent in the subtitles

For someone who is a complete potato with software, could you tell me a simple 1 2 3 steps kinda what to do once you open up Subtitle Edit and open the episode file in there? I downloaded the pastebin but SubEdit can't find the saved file?

So when you have the file downloaded, you need to rename the file so that its extension is .template for example fix.template (you need to enable file extension visibility in Windows if you dont already have that on)

Then, when you have the episode file open in SubtitleEdit, go to the "multiple replace" tool from the edit menu. Then press the import button in the tool window and import the .template file.

After that you should see every subtitle line that is going to be changed in the "lines found" list. Press apply to apply the changes then OK to close the window.

Then you just have to save the subtitle file with the save icon or file->save as and then load the subtitle file in your video player.

Got it working! Good stuff man, the exaggerated accent subs were really taking away from this show 😭

This process should work on every other episode the same way yeah?

Yes the process is the same for every episode. There are probably some words that won't get changed but I think I got the most common ones added to the list.

It is also easy to add more words to the multiple replace list if you want to do that.

I actually like the slang. I mean u don’t see this type of stuff ever in anime, it’s my first time reading slang subs.

It’s one of the things that make the characters feel like ordinary people living in a small coastal town. Kinda like characters living in the Wild West, they talk weird but it fits.

I guess I also don’t have any issue with reading these types of subs other may like it but might it annoying to read through them.
