Wait... what? You're saying that what you were actually complaining about was the fact that fansubbers don't release unencoded files? Are you literally insane? A single episode on a bluray (m2ts) is around 5 GB. And until the BD comes out, the only other 2 sources are either .ts from Japanese TV or 1080p streams from CR/Funi/etc. The TS is always lower quality and nobody re-encodes the stream (except idiots who insist on having a HEVC encode or mini-encodes). So what exactly are fansubbers supposed to not re-encode?

Seriously, what are you even talking about?

You don't say.

Ripped these discs myself. I rip discs all the time, so what you're telling me is nothing new to me. I'm okay with using 97 GB for this show. I might even replace it with the 179 GB Italian version, which is said to be the best one out there.

On average, I would say it's lower than 5 GB. Around 3.5 GB for a 20 mbps file (22 minutes) with uncompressed audio. Over 4 GB if it has the English dub too. The distributors will usually try to cram as many episodes as possible onto a single disc in order to save costs. That Italian Cowboy Bebop release is an exception. I'd rather just expand my storage than deal with the fans' teeny encodes.

I thought you added me to your ignore list. Make up your mind.

isnt there plenty of BDMV releases on NyaaTorrents if you just want the raw files instead of re-encodes

Yup, I'm definitely replacing my American Cowboy Bebop with the Italian. The Americans scrubbed away the grain.

Not really. From some of the more recent anime I got, I couldn't find Kite 1998 remuxed or as BDMV there or Maison Ikkoku or Gunsmith Cats or Wicked City (no seeds) or Riding Bean.

well at this point you should buy their BD discs yourself though since the point of fansubbing is to re-encode to smaller file size with as much (but not equal) quality with the BD disc releases

grain on video takes too much file size or bitrate too thats why fansubbers usually removes them since ye the point of fansubbing is to release a smaller file size video

But grain on video IS the picture. The picture is made up of thousands of tiny specs of grain. Removing the grain means softening the picture. I can see the softening in those examples above. In fact, I can notice some of the details disappear completely.

not gonna happen for now unless at least unlimited bandwidth or no data caps is the norm worldwide

a lot of people prefer fansubs or even those HEVC re-encodes because they are smaller file size

video grain takes a lot of file size sometimes 2x to even 3x the amount without the output with video grain

so best you can do is to continue downloading BDMV releases and buy the BD discs for those that are not available

DmonHiro is full of fucking shit and full of himself. This moron will argue with anybody who injures his fragile little ego. I'm in the BDMV or Bd Remux camp-I don't like my source material compromised. So called "re-encoders" want to make the video look better so they apply all kinds of filters and other bullshit in a lame attempt to achieve their misguided goals. Don't these idiots realize that bluray video is already compressed for god's sake? Same with audio-on nyaa.si there are morons who complain if wav audio is uploaded instead of flac-WTF? Wav and flac are identical from a data perspective-can you say lossless? Fuck screwing around with the source material-leave it alone.

I can't even tell the difference between 8-bit and 10-bit encodes.

BDMV files are too big. My Samsung smart TV from 2017 likes my USB sticks formatted at FAT32, meaning that I can't have individual files larger than 4GB.

And no, I'm not going to watch anime on my computer. I like watching anime on my 50" TV in my living room. If it's anime at a lower resolution, and is 4:3, I'll watch it on my Trinitron.

Yeah, I'll agree m2ts files (the file extension that bds use for the video/audio) aren't for everyone. What I do is use a media player (an Odroid N2+ running Coreelec) and play my files off of an external usb powered hdd so I can watch them on my Panasonic plasma tv. Watch anime on my computer monitor? Only to preview the subtitles.

I like watching on my TV through my computer. Computer media players are much nicer than Android apps.

Fuckin' A.

Reminds me of all those weirdos upscaling and hyper-sharpening everything with AI, as if it's possible to look better than the source. That has become so popular that now even official releases are being ruined by machine learning. Was pretty disappointed by the Prince and the Revolution Live Blu-ray released this month.

That's the old DVD on top and the new Blu-ray on the bottom.

Don't know what goes through these people's heads that makes them think their moving water color paintings (with fake grain) look good. Go on YouTube and you'll find countless music videos and concerts ruined just like this.

With the same kinds of creepy horror faces.

Look at the ringing behind his arm, and his nose. He looks like a piece of cardboard.

23 minutes into the rip, I stopped, checked my old DVD again and decided the DVD looks better.

Which is which? I don't know!

@Phantomnocomics Not everybody agrees on all subjects, I'm entitled to my opinion and you yours. If you think mine is idiotic I think yours is too.
