| It's understandable if you already read both and want to read more titles. However, some people I've seen read Ecchi but refuse to read hentai, or prefer Ecchi over hentai. Why is this the case? What do you find more appealing in Ecchi that Hentai lacks? |

| Because sex actually happens in those titles. Given the sheer amount of titles with “ship-tease” where nothing, not even handholding comes of it, together with some of the reactions on that sex actually did happen in Love is War, I've come to conclude a rather large portion of readers somehow does not want it to actually happen. |

| Because hentai is outright pornography and ecchi is still more standard anime/manga that have a lot of sexualization. With ecchi you can still find it funny, get attached to characters, find fights cool, whatever. These elements exist in the series as more than setpieces. Hentai/pornography is more straight to the point and tends to go farther, but that also means there's less to interact with outside of straight up fap material. Sex appeal isn't an absolute, monolithic entity, and there's tons of different ways to both portray that and consume that. Differences in portrayal is why there's a distinction between ecchi and hentai in the first place, and why they're not treated as one in the same. If you'd just think about this a bit more before running onto these forums and making this thread, you probably could've reached this conclusion yourself in just a couple of minutes. Since you didn't, I'm just going to have to assume you don't actually have much experience with reading either. This isn't some esoteric, hidden knowledge that I'm spouting off here, and this would be obvious if you'd just actually consume the content. |

If that were the case, they'd be rebranded as ecchi, much like Yosuga no Sora was. YnS has explicit, pornographic sex scenes, but the overwhelming majority of people won't sit through three episodes of character drama to get to a single sex scene. It has too much narrative to function as pure fap material. So no. There aren't hentai with more plot than ecchi. If there were, they'd be rebranded as ecchi, or they *should* be rebranded as ecchi. Because this is literally the distinction - hentai is straight up pornography, whereas ecchi is standard anime/manga but features sexualization as a key component. | If 100s of sex scene are present in the story u get desensitized and detached after first few. But after seeing 100s of tease scene, if u get a borderline sex scene it more the enough satisfaction. The formula ecchi uses is more tempting than hentai for long run. Even if most ecchi may end up disappointing people. Ecchi is ur girlfriend or crush while hentai is ur wife. My question was not meant to be one of the anime's quality. As for Monogatari, I thought he only hated the fans. I remember seeing a Monogatari character in his favorites long ago: The same one I used to have in my favorites! I didn't want to use To LOVE-Ru as my example because it doesn't purport to have a real story. I've never heard of Magipoka. Alas, I have yet to hear Manaban's enlightened opinion on "porn with plot." |

| I am not in to specifacly ecchi, but i read some ecchi. Reading hentai though ? I have some hentai manga but i never read them... i just skip skip and fap to the sex scenes and that's it. Who reads a hentai from start to finish anyway ?!?!? there is no meat to the story, they are just for fap. xD |
