Am I the only one that notices this sort of cycle with Gintama’s rank?

I noticed that sometimes too.
It's just that they're back to back, their scores are very close that only few new members can change the ranking very quickly. Nothing to worry about.

gintama the final also dropped from 9,05 (#7) to 9,04 (#10) then got back to 9,05 (#7). I think MAL whats to rank them in some order, since if u take it logically gintama the final should have been lower ranked than HxH, because when logically u think that u get from 9,04 to a higher score than HxH? (a longer number that we do not see)

Yeah, I notice it happens whenever a new series or season comes out and makes it to top 5.

Well, it looks like the cycle has started again. Not only did Spy X Family get a lower rank than Aot s3p2, but Gintama also ended up being at #2 again. I wonder how much longer this will continue on.

It's hard to win an argument against smart people, but impossible to win an argument against dumb ones.

Right? I've never seen this Gintama ranked 3rd or 4th, it's either 2nd or 5th. It's definitely weird.

Just like what my duck @ManWild said a while back, whenever Gintama° gets ejected from the 2nd spot, it easily comes back after a few days

It's not alphabetical. Ranks in ratings are based off of purely numbers, remember that it only displays upto the nearest hunderedths. The ratings will differ eventually the further it rounds up.

When 1m users rate something 9.08 that is indeed better than when only 100K users rate something 9.08
More people with more different tastes agree on a score = the score is better
Also Popularity isn't based on number of voters

Popularity is based on the number of people who put that the series in their list whether it's watching, completed, plan to watch, dropped... that also includes the number of people who voted on it.

Like I said 9.08 is not necessarily the same as 9.08. Gintama could have 9.084 and the 3rd is 9.083 thus Gintama would still have a FACTUALLY higher score.

Number of voters is a completely DIFFERENT CATEGORY to ratings.
And more popular anime with similar ratings not only tend to have higher 10s or 9s but scores lower than that which are 1s, 2s, 3s, 4s, 5s, 6s, 7s ,8s.

Ratings are based off of the EXACT numbers/score. What is displayed is simply the APPROXIMATION of the score. Not all 9.08s are all equal. It's simply rounded up to the nearest hundredths.

There are such things as APPROXIMATION especially to decimals.
Just because you saw 9.08 from 4 different series doesn't mean all 9.08 are the same.

There is no need for tiebreakers, since regarding decimals not all numbers are EXACTLY the same, some are just higher than the other hence the ranking. There's a reason why Gintama can move from 2nd to 5th despite having the same 9.08 rating as the other 3.

By your logic in your last statement it also means that more people with different tastes agree on a show being rated a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8?
