| Fate/Zero is a prequel to both Unlimited Bladeworks and Heaven's Feel. Unlimited Bladeworks and Heaven's Feel are alternate scenarios; and show you how different the story could've ended up after starting from the exact same spot. Alternate timelines, so to say. |

Fate/Stay Night is a story splitted into 3 "Routes" , 3 scenarios using the same characters and starting the same , but changing greatly with the protagonist doing a different choice at the beginning. Each Route focus on different characters , revealing secrets that weren't explained in the precedent Route. So you'll miss a lot of points if you skip one of those Routes. Fate/Zero is a Prequel (Which means it happens before an already existing series , but was supposed to be experienced after watching it) to the 3 Routes of Fate/Stay Night. (2006 Anime , UBW & HF) So it takes elements of those 3 Routes , and show what coul have happenned before them. The problem is that Fate/Zero wasn't written by the same Author as the original , so there is some inconsistencies in the story if you compare some details in Zero and the 3 Routes. So the (kinda) Sequel to Zero is not only UBW , but also the 2006 Anime and HF. (HF is probably the one that fits the best for Zero) HF is indeed an Alternative Route of UBW , which is itself an Alternative Route to the 2006 Anime. You can totally watch only one of those 3 story , and get a conclusive ending , but you'll always miss some pieces of the puzzle if you don't watch those 3. (A lot of person forget that Fate/Stay Night is originally a slow-burn mystery type of story) For a few reasons , the 2006 Anime is hated by most , resulting in a lot of people just skipping it. (Thus they miss a lot about Saber , mainly) Then there is Fate/Zero , which is about the father of the protagonist of /Stay Night. It takes place 10 years before the 3 /Stay Night stories , but you are supposed to watch it after discovering all the secrets that are revealed little by little in the 3 Routes. Since it's considered by many to be the best "Fate" serie , it often gets recommended as the first entry to watch , which is an error if you wants to experiment all the series. (Plus the release order of the Animes can confuse those who doesn't know why it's like that) So you need to choose 2 thing : Do you watch the 2006 Anime , or skip it ? Do you watch Zero last , or first ? So it'll be 2006 (Maybe) > UBW > HF > Zero , or Zero > 2006 (Maybe) > UBW > HF. As i said , you can also totally watch only one of the Routes tho. Like , you can totally watch the 2006 Anime or UBW and just stop there , you'll get a conclusive ending. (Especially for the 2006 Anime , which got one of the best endings of all time (Without forgetting the Epilogue that didn't got adapted)) |

| No. They are alternative route just like F/SN Those movies aren't mandatory but certainly better than UBW, for majority. So yeah, you can watch UBW and then watch HF if you're interested in retelling of the story with different events. |

But since Lord El-Melloi use a character of Zero and happens some years after it , watching it right now is a good idea instead of going for the Spin-Offs that has absolutely no connections to the main story. |
