I really want to like Re:Zero more, in order to do so I am deciding to rewatch it again. This will be the second time rewatching season 1 and the first time for season 2. If I endeavoured to enjoy the series more, as I do, would the directors cut suffice?

Yeah, i'd say go for it there are some newly added scenes and improved animation on some parts.

What's New in the Re:Zero Director's Cut ? by MAL.
To be honest , the huge majority of those differences were already present in the Blu-rays version.

I’d say yes to the DC’s cut but the differences between it and the original are very minor IMO. Just re-watching S1 alone significantly made me enjoy the series more, so you can’t really go wrong with either version.

i just rewatched directors cut first season as well ... it helped jog my memory a little and made me realize that this show is crazy overrated .. it literally took one episode about snow sculptures to completely snap me out of the whole story, world and the characters and it became a fuckin sitcom or something at that point...i had a hell of a time tryin to get back into it after that .. that shit left such a sour taste in my mouth . and i dont ever remember watching that episode when i first watched the show... i wish i could just unsee it but either way it made me notice some weird ass out of pocket character behavior start taking place out of nowhere ,in and after that one episode.. on the other hand .. all episodes up to whatever episode that silly shit starts, leave such a strong impression and suck you into the story and the world in a way that very rarely happens. anyway ,just wanted to share some new feels after a rewatch..

The snow episode you are talking about is the Memory Snow OVA. Basically it's the only filler episode and not even part of the original show's run. It was released in 2018 between seasons 1 and 2. They just added it where it would fall canonically in the Director's Cut. If you skip it, you won't miss anything. So if you don't like that episode, I wouldn't judge the whole show by it. Think about it like a filler beach episode in other anime. If you have other reason you don't like the show then I get it, but I just thought I'd help clear up the confusion.

I'd say the normal version is more thrilling to watch if you don't skip the OP & ED.
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.

Probably you hate isekai a little more than us because of this shit isekai Strom going on.
Re:zero was the anime that largely contributed to the trend of isekai for good rights, but no good deed stands against profitability 🥺
It's funny 'cause, for you Re'zero was a disaster but for me it was that anime that made me watch more animes and really made me appreciate the stories.
It's was ain't the first anime I've watched but it was that anime when after watching it I started to love the culture and started to really understand what its really like to watch anime. (Yeaa! too many 'Really's)

I hope you all founded the same emotion and feeling in some other anime. ✌🏻

I love this picture , and i see that you doesn't have the Re : Zero EX Novels in your list.
If you likes Wilhelm and Thearesia , be sure to read Volume 2 & 3 of EX , it's so wholesome. x)

You’ll only notice pacing, particularly in the 2nd season. The normal version will kinda just cut short and the next episode will start immediately after that, and the opening on the tv release is separating or non existent. The directors cut however has none of these problems, and a much better flow. Since the only other difference is animation rework, it’s stupid not to watch the directors cut, as it’s the way the show was intended

Man you’re complaining about an ova. It’s literally filler that wasn’t in the original air. You could have skipped the episode, because it’s useless to the plot.

that makes more sense cuz i was just watching the season on auto play and so the episode came on so i thought it was part of the season . But like i said even after that episode some characters just stayed on that weirdo ish.. biggest one being rem .. after that snow shit she all of a sudden stayed being a subaru yes man. And I understand his whole goal was making them like him but the way her character did a 180 within an episode made me see the show as a show with a script and characters etc instead of a world i felt i was almost a part of if that makes sense ..i advise evryone to stay clear of that episode .. forreal

that’s kinda the point though. She’s made to be perfect for Subaru, someone who expected a great isekai life but got shit, and easy way out. Him being able to reject rem shows his development, and how much of his mindset has changed since episode one. Also, the ova came out 2 years after the original release, and I believe isn’t referenced in the source material. It plays off what is established in the show already, not the other way around. Just ignore the whole thing if it was that bad.
