Yes, it's just a cute and relaxing show, slice of life has always been my comfort zone to chill out a bit if I feel a little stressed out. Exactly what I need with all this shit going on in the past few days.

I am loving every second of it. Easily my favorite show of the season and honestly when its done it will be one of my favorite Slice of Life's ever made. A true masterpiece in every way, soooo under rated and under watched.

Well even before what was going on in the past few days, I very much needed this show for most of the reasons that you specified. Last month, I was in the mood for something nice and light, and Akebi-chan is exactly that. And it IS cute, as you were saying also.

It's one of the best shows of this season. It's quite wholesome and adorable. The artwork and animation are quite beautiful and fits perfectly with Akebi's character.

All the other anime this season are IMO unwatchable trash

This one is awesome and manages to play within my strict Yuri rules

Started it two days ago. It’s not bad. It’s a SoL show that manages to balance the life with humor so it’s not super boring. The entire budget has gone to Akebi’s eyes and various foot/armpit shots which is kinda weird. But this and Sono Bisque Doll are just cloverworks straight flexing. They needed to fire on all cylinders after the Wonder Egg and TPN debacles. So this is nice to see them get back in people’s good graces.

I am however not looking forward to the next 6 months of “DAE Akebi underrated?!?!?” posts.

I'm a slice of like junkie so when it's anime was announced and I picked the manga i was absolutely in awe by the artwork and I was doubtful as for how clowerworks would measure to it even after knowing megumi kouno (she draws cute girls the best) is working on this project with many other talented people on it.
I thought the quality would drop in later episodes when the trailer was released however it exceeded my expectations.

Most Slice of life genre doesn't have out of the top animation except kyoani so seeing such detail and care put into mundane actions of these girl made me really happy.

Even the story pacing and music was done really well.
Props to all women team, especially megumi kouno for designing such beautiful characters that doesn't exclude hiro's quirky artstyle.

I thought my dress up darling will be my favorite this season however akebi takes it for me, it's inclusion of original story that doesn't seem out of place,the music, the characters(not even side characters look same), directing and storyboarding was really one of the best this season and I think any other team except kyoni wouldn't be able to adapt this good and comfy of a story that makes me smile throughout the whole episode

The thing about this kind of show is the purpose of it.

Honestly, this reminds me of shows like Non Non Biyori, K-ON or Yuuru Camp. There's no final destination, a major goal. It's slice of life for the sake of slice of life. I personally love those kind of shows, but I also understand they're naturally limited by its essence.

In essence, Akebi-chan really manages to display everything it was supposed to do: lovable characters, gorgeous setting and animation, great art, cute girls doing cute things. I just miss some better supporting characters. They're fine in their roles, but, aside from Erika, they're very forgettable as well. This show is too heavily carried by Akebi's genkidere nature, which is totally okay, but lacks that "plus" which would make me recommend for someone (something that NNB and K-ON managed to achieve).

Overall, this is a decent series, gets the job done, complete albeit could've been greater. I believe a 7-8 MAL rating would be fair.

Akebi is incredibly likable and the visuals are beautiful.
The introduction and her unique approach to her classmates however was hard on me. I might have to watch it a second time with company. Since I I can't bare to look at how unique she is and it makes me embarrassed.
