How long will MAPPA last as a "goat" in the anime industry?

Okay, I just caught up with all the news that was released during Jump Festa so far, and from what I hear MAPPA are taking on some off the most animation intensive shows this include so far, Jigokuraku, Chainsaw Man, AOT, JJK 0. This is even not mentioning the other shows MAPPA is doing while they aren't animation intensive, they are massive undertaking such as Yuri on Ice, Dance Dance Danseur, Kakegurui Twin. Who knows if MAPPA takes on more projects?

All of these project are coming out in 2022, which means the only one thing, overworking animators and directors to death. This style of buisness is not sustainable for the long term, but it rakes in the cash. The more I look at MAPPA the more it feels like the story of Madhouse both rise and fall.

The anime industry really gotta change this insidious actions, if they want this genre to live on. Animators are finate resources so we should take good care by giving them good pay, and good work schedules.

Btw... If anyone has a good NGO or charity for animators in need, it would be nice if you can link them in the forum. I want to dedicate some of my money to the people who have created such beautiful arts for me to enjoy.

yes they will implode like MadHouse did and its funny because the original MadHouse CEO made MAPPA and joining him are ex-MadHouse staff and animators so MAPPA is MadHouse 2 anyway

Wished the industry didn't treat veteran animators as disposable which is often the case with many of these issues regarding underpaid labor.

Is there a way to donate a lump sum of 100 dollar with nothing in return? Because I don't want them to take away from their busy schedule and secondly I would not reap the benefits of their content since I can't read Japanese (thought working on it).

I’m not really sure, but I’d say they will definitely not last more than 5 years at this rate

My assumption is that most of the basic workload will be done by freelance contractors. Perhaps, MAPPA outsource some of the scenes to foreign studios, or they hire individual contractors.

I remember reading the Maki vs Kasumi fight scene was done by a Filipino animator.
I like dub more than sub because I am not a weeb.

didn't they just inaugurated a new studio? with clean spaces and such.
I think they will last at least 10 years, depends on japan's economy, who would have thought that AIC will disappear back in the 80s? it's all because of the bubble.

Probably as long as they keep adapting chainsaw man and jjk seasons. So most likely 5-6 years.

That's the stupidest thing I've heard. If all the animators quit than I'm sure your beloved Mappa studio will make great shows lol. I mean it's not like they care about their animators in the first place, they're just dispensable tools to them. &
believe me it's not my issue either, I'm just pointing out some obvious facts.

You think too small; MAPPA is here to stay. I'd say about 20+ years.

Classic Example of trying to chew more than they can bite and eventually it will backfire. I just hope they somehow take care of themselves.
2025 might be the year where I will be happy. This year is not happy year.

More than 10 years. Hate them all you want but there's no denying that they've produced some of the really good titles in recent years. They barely make "bad" anime, and pretty much all of their projects have been successful thus far. With JJK under them and CSM almost being guaranteed to be a smash hit, I doubt they'll go down any time soon. Mappa is here to stay.

0T: I can already see them messing up their Hell's Paradise adaptation though

They will not last long. Making the employees work to death and choosing all nonsense manga to adapt.

Their strategy seems pretty reckless, it's like they are aware they are not going to last long so they try to pick every high-profile adaptation they can to churn out as much money as they can, like a bubble that is about to burst.

Actually there are only 3 anime with confirmed date as 2022 (rest 4 are date less). Even current madhouse has that much in there plate.
Back in 2020, they took up like 8 titles and in 2021 and 2019 there are 5-6 title, this is nothing in comparison.

Its just people found out there are lot of anime mappa takes up just because this time around ip took up were popular ones

Which also means that they need a lot of resources and a number of them are also planned for several seasons. It's not the same to animate a Jujutsu Kaisen that paves the way for who knows how many later seasons, OVAs, films and projects of any kind than to animate some standard two-cour conclusive show.

And that in a studio that has already been called out even by industry veterans for their consistently terrible working conditions and low paying rates.

More than 5 years and the cycle will repeat like the Madhouse.
