it was so sad i cried for three days straight but yah i liked the ending. i think its bc of how the ending was portrayed. it shows someone who has hope but then lost all the hope in an almost an instant. like the story of the lynx that ash told eiji. he could change his fate but he chose not to. and the fact that they just ended it like that makes it even more painful tbh.

I do not hate the ending as much as most people, definitely wouldn't call it lazy writing like I've seen some people call it but a happy ending would help me sleep at night.
But yk, I'm pretty satisfied with the ending, it was pretty good, only issue is that they didn't build up to it as well as the manga did it.

Lol complicated topic...I liked it as much as it completely destroyed my emotions...I thi k my favorite part of it was the portrayal of just how hopeful everything was, everything seemed like it was going to be okay, and then THAT happens and it had absolutely no connection to the rest of the plot, it was portrayed as total random coincidence, and honestly I think that's the part that breaks my heart the most

I can’t and won’t accept that ending. Ash is living in Japan with his bf Eiji :)

To quote Dwight Schrute: "Will I get over it? Mmm...No. But life goes on" .

I was fine with the ending until the last few minutes. Then that particular scene
came up and it kinda broke me for a few days. I understand however why the the creators chose to end Banana Fish that way and I don't regret watching it.

I'm just voting "Yes" because Ash is alive and well living in Japan with Eiji, imagine having any ending other than that... It would be so sad...

I won't say yes, but I don't hate it either. It just sucked how Ash managed to survive many cruel things just to end up dead. It's sad, but I don't hate nor do I like it. I guess I'm just OK with it.
I sometimes forget to finish my sentences.

In my opinion, is really well written, the thing that happen is hinted as a revenge much before the events happen (I'm not going to say it just in case) and shows a scene that is heart warming and really shocking ,sad and unexpected that the things could be that way (I cried for more than 2 weeks when I saw anything I relate to them x'D).Its deeply sad and not "happy ending" we would like to ,but it's really good and people doesn't have to attack the author for it (ik this is logical but I've seen a lot of people insulting the author instead of the anime /manga ^^")

I think I cried all the tears I had because of the ending, but I expected it since they had recommended the anime to me by passing it to me as the saddest anime in history ... and no, I wouldn't change the ending because a happy ending wouldn't look good.

Simple answer: NO
I absolutely hated it! It's a total masterpiece and there's no denying that but it was just not my case.

I mean - the ending was tragic. But the anime was amazing, and I enjoyed it a lot.
After watching Banana Fish I read a yaoi manga (one shot) of the story and I was sobbing.
It was amazing and extremely mournfull. For me, it was the perfect ending, (even though it was so sad) it was the complete piece of Banana Fish.
The story name (contains yaoi)
Banana Fish dj - Futari no Eden (yaoi)

Fine ending. Didn't expect Lao to be the one to do it, but it only made sense...

I hated the ending even is ash didn't end up with edjei they shouldn't have killed him coz the whole fucking point wouldn't exist if he died it is what I think coz there was this whole build up thing from the start
but yeah the ending was really unexpected totally rushed the manga portraits it better But the ending did manage to get a few tears off me considering I never cry even when real humans die so yeah this was my opinion feel free to correct me....!?
