So I've seen the first 4 episodes of the promised neverland season 2. Obviously I found out that they removed a lot of manga arcs. I also heard the ending was bad. I plan on reading the whole thing anyway regardless. So my question without spoilers please, is should I read up to the part where the anime is now before watching this, or do you think watching the anime won't take away from the enjoyment of reading it after? And I'm going to consume both forms of media regardless so saying "just read it" or "don't bother" are meaningless.

I'd also like an answer to this, so I'm posting here to see what everyone else says.

I don’t think finishing the anime will ruin the experience of reading the manga. Personally, I would just finish the anime then read the manga.

Sweet thanks. I was going to delete the thread when I got an answer but it looks like I'm not the only one with the question.

About how you should approach the season; don't listen to the manga readers they say that the stpry is rushed and that this adaptation is trash. imo, it isn't I'm an anime only and I really like the development thus far, didn't feel like there was something missing at all, and all the horror that was in the first season, I felt it in here, especially in the latest episode.

Just finish the anime and then read the manga if you want, if you read the manga now then you will simply get even more disappointed with the anime.

You should approach season 2 ignoring what every manga reader has said about it so far. Their frustration is understandable but ignoring the manga, season 2 is pretty enjoyable. Sure, it doesn’t live up to the expectations of season 1, but it’s still pretty good. Most of the hate it gets is just for skipped arcs and details from the manga but the anime itself doesn’t have too much wrong with it. My advice is don’t let manga readers ruin the season for you.

I'm an Anime only, with how amazing the 1st Season was, I admit that I have a big expectation for the 2nd Season. Because of that, so far the 2nd Season has been pretty dissapointing(comparing it to the 1st season). Then I lowered the bar as if it's a new anime and I don't expect anything from it, in the end it's still a mediocre Anime at best, not a top 5 or top 10 Anime for this season IMO(since this season has so many great new anime and sequels).

Coming from an Anime only perspective I still can tell how rushed it really is. The first few episodes were fine but the “plot twist” in episode 5 felt like it was missing buildup and impact it kind of just happened. Going on from that to the next episode there is a massive exposition dump that feels so forced to make up for whichever arcs were cut. It’s kind of got back to a somewhat steady pace but if your going to read anyway I’d recommend reading through first and then watching the full show after so the twists have the buildup and impact they are meant to instead of spoiling yourself with the anime.

Two tips:

1. Be patient. Things get pretty rushed in the beginning but it all settles down in the mid-season.

2. Focus on the drama. There is not much action or mystery in this season. The moral dilemmas and the clash of worldviews are the real highlights here.

I read the manga till chapter 75. I was waiting for the anime and didn't want to ruin the fun but since they decided to skip a few arcs, I'm gonna keep the anime On-hold, read more chapters and when I think it's a good time to continue the anime then I'll continue watching from where I left off. I watched the anime till episode 6.

In my opinion the manga is 100x more enjoyable and better in general as well as gives more context to many things that are happening. The anime is good but not as good. If you are enjoying the anime now I would read the manga afterwards so the experience doesnt get spoilt for you like it did for me after reading the manga.

Skip the f**k out of it.

I suggest for everyone just to watch first season and consider this season to not exist entirely.

My guess is that you'd hate the anime more if you read the manga first
