I thought Azur Lane was OK but I might be weird. You don’t have to act like you don’t like it. People on MAL have a tendency to make a bandwagon out of either hating or loving shows that don’t deserve either. Azur Lane didn’t have amazing animation but it wasn’t bad by any means. I’m sure the studio can take on something that is significantly less motion-heavy and has simpler character designs (some major characters were excluded from the Azur Lane anime because of how busy their designs are).

I also don't think it was COMPLETELY terrible, in fact its the reason why I play Azur Lane by now. The focus on the Starter Girls + Unicorn and the Belfast/Enterprise Duo in particular I really enjoyed and is one of the reasons why I rated the story and characters 8/10 or even higher. The problem is that scenes that even had a remote bit of movement were horrible. And trust me, I want to like the show, but I just rewatched the Sheffield/Takao fight when I wrote this thread. The choreo is bad, the animation is bad, the directing is bad. And when I say that as someone who wants to defend that show, then you know we got a problem on our hands. Don't get me wrong, I know Gotoubuns source material, and luckily there is no Sheffyfight they could butcher, but I really would like a show beyond stillimages and slideshows...

Yeah, I think that’s a fair assessment. I also really wanted the Azur Lane anime to be good because i’m a big fan of the game. I also don’t think the animation is anything to write home about but I thought the show was entertaining in general.

In episode 11 of the first season, a different studio, namely SHAFT studio, took over the animation. And it looked so much better compared to the rest of the series. The OST and the direction also improved.
From what I've seen in PVs/trailers, the animation/artstyle and the character designs are okay, I guess(except for the exclusion of the THICC thighs). However, I hope that in the important scenes, SHAFT studio will take over like in the previous season. I'll also add that this season is gonna adapt the best parts/arcs of the series so they better not disappoint.

I'm not worried for the show itself. I'm worried about the ending. Without going into spoilers, I think they'll have to change the ending to something else, but I really hope they don't drop the ball

meh its your typical trash/generic harem show with all of its cliche and bad things,sure its start good having start with literally "the same/equal 5 heroines" they are quintuplets after all,but end up with same problem,some heroine is well developed the other especially the "main heroine" is forgotten and win just because she is the "main heroine",conclusion? another trash harem,5 or 6/10 at best.

Oof, since I wasn't at all impressed with the animation last season I told myself that I would only continue watching if the studio changed, and I thought it would be an improvement... I'll give this an episode or two to see if I find it any good.

Yesterday I watched Re:Zero and I noticed how limited the animation and art looked, I guess most animes this season might look the same, those were produced in unusual times so I think we should be more lenient towards this year's animes in general.

Yeah, Season 1 is far better in visual with all 3D animation intact.

Season 2 is more flat 2D animation and look with that glossy finish (reflective 2D look). Plus the body proportion is not well define in Season 2. Over size head, thin thighs and normal body seriously? the hell of new animation studio department did to the twins.
