| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- I may be overly paranoid but for Gin to tell his plan in secret, away from the audience, initially makes it seem like it will work from a meta-narrative context, however to then say that it must be kept a secret kind of made me worried. It made me doubt Gin’s squad, as if they are going to leak the information or something, I even assumed Gin may be ten steps ahead if so. Like why specify that it has to be kept secret? I thought that was assumed! And as we come to a close I've been curious how this manga with end as it could make a pretty strong statement and that could be a part of it! But I really don't think that's going to happen, I feel like its a gut feeling that should be ignored. My most surface-level inclination is to say that I am slightly disappointed in Ryouhei, while he definitely seems less competent and more talkative than Morita, as does get bullied by Gin far more vocally, his role in the early dynamic is almost identical. The reason I preface this by saying my surface-level inclination is that this seems obviously intentional as the beginning of the manga has been paralleled, we have gone back to square one, so to voice this kind of complaint feels like I'd be shooting myself in the foot before we got to see what the purpose of that decision ultimately is. One aspect of their relationship which does interest me is the explicitly stated expendability of Ryouhei. He is not being trained as a partner, or at least that is what we were told, he is a throwaway subordinate for this job and that means his role in the story could be something that Morita could never have! |
