▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Interview #210 - @-Mayhem-▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ ![]() The Little Koreaboo "That girl... her only crime was being born as a slave." - Hae Soo (Moon Lovers) Interview conducted by: @Megurashi Reviewed by: @AlexPaulLEWZ & @Skittles Could you tell us more about yourself? Hello. I am a 24-year-old from Romania (Vampire alert here, I might bite you. You've been warned). Actually, I just became 24 on December 27 2019. I don't have a very interesting life, so I try to keep myself busy all the time with different things, like watching anime; reading manga, manhwa, manhua, and webtoons; watching Korean, Chinese, Japanese, Taiwanese, and Thai dramas; listening to K-pop and other different music genres. I also enjoy talking with friends online, watching various YouTube videos, and doing many other different things. Basically, my entire life revolves around the internet and the online world (I don't really have a social or love life, to be honest T.T). What else can I say about myself? I finished college in 2018 majoring in Design. I had two jobs since then, and now I'm trying to find the secret behind my existence. Aren't we all doing this? I have to find mine too, just to be in trend with the fast-changing world. Hmmm, something else would be that if you get to know me, you'll see that I am now how I seem to be. Oh, another critical thing: I know a lot of languages (not really). Besides Romanian, which is my native one, and English, obviously, I also know a bit of Japanese, Korean, and Mandarin. I can also understand Spanish up to a certain level since it's very similar to Romanian and a bit of French (studied in school for eight years, but not much sticked with me, sadly). Now let's exclude Thai, German, Hindi, Russian, Portuguese and Italian since I only know about a couple of words from each, so they don't really count. Also, another thing would be that I do not believe in God, Satan, angels, demons, heaven, hell, and other biblical stuff, but I do believe in reincarnation, karma, and the existence of the soul. Well, I guess this would be pretty good for an introduction, haha. Now it's up to you to decide if I'm a weirdo or a weirdo. I'm ok either way. How did you choose your username? Not hard to answer. Actually, I had another username before, but let's ignore that fact. I chose my current username 'Kuroko-chan' because of the main character Kuroko from Kuroko no Basket. Why, you ask? Cuz he has blue hair, and my favorite color is blue. Oh, and also because of his personality... I just love it. I added ''-chan'' at the end to make it sound cuter. Yeah, I like cute things. Sorry to disappoint you, but there isn't an entire philosophy behind my username. It's just as simple as that. Could you give us a brief history of your time on MAL? Sadly, I can't remember exactly how I came across MAL, but I do remember I was searching for a specific anime (I don't remember which) and while googling it, one of the options that popped up was this site. For some reason, I created an account here, but didn't add anything (my entire account was completely empty and deserted). Made the account just for that anime cuz I couldn't see its page if I didn't have an account. I eventually forgot my login details, and while more and more anime started piling up on the list I had on my phone, I remembered this site and made another account (this one) and decided to stay here. I made an account initially just to add anime and to keep track of them, like everyone else. Then, I found about manga around one year later and started reading and loving it (BL mostly). I also started to talk to some other users, but didn't keep in touch with any from back then. At some point, I came across some wonderful people, which I still have on my friends list and talk with often (Yeah, you... I'm talking about you. You know who you are). I also met some less-than-nice people that I ended up removing from my list. I had my share of bad experiences here, but thanks to someone, I learned that I don't need to give them my attention cuz they aren’t really worth my time. Even though I learned that, I still repeat the same mistake over and over again. That person knows about it and laughs at me every time, but she still continues to stay by my side even if I am a headache to her. I also participate in clubs as both a member in some and a staff member in others. I am pretty active on the forums, usually on Casual Discussion and sometimes on Anime Discussion. People on CD know me as the stupid K-pop fanboy who hates body hair, and someone who makes lame threads and has a big obsession with aesthetics, hahaha. If you mention that to them, they'll realize right away that the person being described is me. Overall, I had a good time here despite some occasions. This site sure changed me. I'm not the same person I used to be before coming here. People shaped my personality for the better and I'm grateful for that. I'll keep staying here. Nobody can get rid of me so easily. Any users you like/dislike? Why? I can't say I ''dislike'' someone, but it's true that I had some fights and conflicts with some of them in the past, so I can't really say I like them either. I would rather not mention anybody cuz we kinda ''made up'' in a way. Well, not really, but at least we don't have any bad blood between us, so I guess everything is ok now. Regarding people that I like, I would like to tag here some friends from my friends list and say something about each of them. Not in any specific order, just random. @Sonal1988 - My big online sister who always try to protect me from bad people, but I always end up doing the exact opposite of what she advises me to do. She always ends up telling me ''I fucking told you so''. Even if I am a big headache to her and makes me wonder how she was able to endure staying by my side for so long, I respect her for that. That, and because she's a strong-minded person, which I admire. You rock, sis. @NaomiAnimeLover - This little girl... I know her from before creating my first account here. I knew her from another site, and when we became friends here, I had no idea she was the same person until she told me. I can say that she's one of my older friends from the online world even if she's way younger than me. She's a really nice and smart kid who share similar passions with me, like webtoons, K-pop, K-dramas, and of course, anime and manga since she's here on MAL as well. @Nedu-kun - This little guy over here is an angel. He's the sweetest kid I've ever met. I remember that when we first started talking, he confessed to me that he stalked me for a few days before gathering the courage to talk to me. I found that to be very adorable, and soon after we started talking, we formed a really strong bond. He was always by my side when I was going through a really hard period in my life, and now I want to do the same for him. I want to be the good senpai he thinks I am. @Shinah - She is awesome. I feel like I can relate to her in so many ways. I was surprised when I first found out that she also likes BL, and I was so grateful for that. We mainly talked about BL stuff for a while and shared a lot of gay YouTube videos to each other. Even if we haven't known each other for a very long time, I feel like I've known her for a lifetime. She gives me that childhood friend vibe. @Luchse - My cunt friend who hates the music I like and says it's shit. He's also my yaoi buddy. We became friends recently, and this bitch should thank me for introducing him to Lookism. Be grateful I put up that Lookism forum set, otherwise you'd still be in the dark now, hahaha. No seriously, thanks for being my friend, bro. I enjoy talking to you. But if you ever say my music is shit, I'll kick your butt. @Rainbow – Another K-pop friend. She's a really sweet girl who obsesses over Seventeen. From our recent discussion (not really recent anymore), she told me she hates bio, hahaha. She helped me with a lot of editing stuff. Well, plenty. I mean, if it wasn't for her, I would still not know how to resize a GIF and make it stay as a GIF. I was so bad, but she rescued me. She's very reliable. @CatGirl99 - She is actually my real-life sister and I highly doubt she'll see this here, but I can say a few words about this little Satan too. She's a devil in an angel's costume. She seems innocent at first sight until she opens her mouth. I love her even if she can be more than annoying sometimes. If it wasn't for her, I would not be here today. She was the one who bugged me for a couple of weeks to watch Noragami with her, and after I gave up and watched it, I started to love anime. Thanks to her, here I am. @NekkoArc - My hyeong. He's my big bro from Korea. I was ecstatic when he told me he's Korean. I wanted a Korean friend so much, and here he is. To be honest, that was because of K-pop, but now I see him as a friend, not as a celestial being, lol. Don't worry, hyeong, I mean this in a good way. After getting to know him, we formed a brotherhood relationship that can't be broken. I can talk with him about everything, just like brothers do. Most of my friends are females, so having a big bro is very nice. I can talk to him about stuff I can't with a girl. I also like to play with him that word game, which I bet you still remember, hyeong. We played it on Discord. @Charlotte1412 - We became friends just recently. We are both staff members in the same club, and after bothering her so much with tons of questions, I found her to be a really nice and a sweet girl and wanted to be her friend. I'm glad she didn't ditch me when I was a noob to everything in the club, and she explained to me everything so my dumbass head can understand too. She's a reliable friend who wouldn't hesitate to help if you ask for it. @Kaddybear - Well, we're friends only for a few months and haven't really managed to know each other too well. She is busy with real-life things and we rarely talk, but I found her to be very nice and wanted to know her better cuz of her huge BTS pic on her profile. Everything started with a compliment, and we started talking after that. How did you get into anime/manga? It's quite amusing, actually. My sister was watching a YouTube video and saw an AMV. After that, she watched more and found one that she liked. She then searched for more details on it and found out there was actually an anime the AMV is based upon. She watched it and loved it so much that she bugged me for around two weeks to watch it too cuz it's so interesting. I kept refusing, saying that anime is for kids. She kept telling me stuff about it and begged me to watch it. Seeing her so passionate about it, I said ''Fuck it, I'm gonna give it a try. I have nothing to lose except time. I was also bored to death, so why not?'' and damn, that was the beginning. Basically, the Gate to Hell has just opened and welcomed me. That first anime was Noragami, which I binge-watched. My sister was next to me watching it again. After finishing it, I felt so empty and asked her that if there was more, and my eyes sparkled when she said 'yes'. She told me there's a second season and we went to watch it right away. After that, I started to watch more and more anime and fell in love with them. In the beginning, I watched Noragami, Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo, Nisekoi, Chuunibiyou, Mirai Nikki, and Tonari no Kaibutsu-kun, just to name a few. I watched more and more anime as time passed, and around one year after that, I came across manga. I still remember my very first manga was a yaoi one, a very explicit one-shot to be more exact. I couldn't find it here on MAL probably cuz it was in Romanian. I tried to translate the title, but sadly, no result. After that, I started reading Ten Count and fell more and more into the Pits of Hell. That was basically the point of no return. I became obsessed with BL and I still am, but not so much. That's was how I basically got into anime and manga, by accident, but I have no regrets. Could you recommend us three of your favorite anime/manga? Ugh, saying this is easy would be a big lie. Ok, I'll try. I have too many that I like, so it's nearly impossible to choose a few titles for both. Anime 1. Attack on Titan - No doubt this is one of my favorite anime of all times. I can't wait for the next season. I'm literally dying here. 2. Hai to Gensou no Grimgar - OMG, I still remember how much I loved this one. The aesthetics and artwork are fantastic, besides the really good plot. 3. Shinsekai Yori - Lord, this anime was like a mix of everything for me. I can't explain it into words, but it was awesome. 4. Yakusoku no Neverland - The feeling this anime gave me can't be explained in words and can't be compared to anything. It's been a while since I experienced a feeling similar to the one this anime gave me. It's so happy and so sad at the same time to the point that I almost cried several times while watching it. After I finished the first season, I was left with an empty hole inside my heart, and I can't wait for the second season to air. Everybody must see this anime. Manga 1. Jigoku no Enra - I thought nothing of it at first, but after reading a few chapters, I fell in love with the story. 2. Ibitsu - I still remember reading this while listening to creepy music, which gave me a feeling that I couldn't experience even with a horror movie. It's a great manga. 3. Last Game - This is a must-read, no doubt. This is one of the best shoujo manga I've read so far. You'll love the characters, the story, and the artwork. I have no complaints about this manga. I even drew the two main characters. I tried to stick with manga only. I could've recommended some webtoons, but since the question only asked about anime and manga, I'll leave it at that. I could separately recommend some webtoons too. 1. DICE - This is a must-read. Great in every aspect. No complaints. If you read what I wrote on my CD thread named ''DICE the cube that changed everything'' a while ago, that is exactly what happens in the story. 2. Shriek - A really good thriller. If you're into stories with moving images with creepy music and noises, this is perfect for you. It's like a real thriller film. 3. Ghost Teller - One of the best webtoons out there, no questions. This webtoon is a compilation of short stories. Basically, there are these ghosts, and they tell the story of how they died. If you read it, I warn you that you'll cry. The story of her truth and The story of brothers were my favorites. 4. Lookism – You’ll fall in love with not only the action, but with the characters too, especially Daniel and Jay. These two characters have such adorable personalities. 5. I Love Yoo - At first, I found it really tiring and long, but after reading it more and more, I got caught up in the story. I just love the main character Shin-Ae and the story in general. 6. True Beauty - The perfect example of Korean society nowadays. I was surprised to see how accurate this can be. This webtoon's story and artwork are heavenly. 7. Sweet Home - Recommended from a friend, and I ended up being up to date with it in only one morning. It's a really good thriller with monsters. I restrained myself to only a few. What are your hobbies outside of anime/manga and MAL? Well, I have quite a few hobbies. Those would also have something to do with the online world. I like to watch Korean, Thai, Japanese, Chinese, and Taiwanese drama. I also like to read manhwa (Korea), manhua (China), and webtoons (Korea). Another thing that I like is listening to K-pop, but I guess that can't be considered as a hobby cuz everyone likes listening to music. Another thing that I like is playing Minecraft with my sister and some friends on a server. It's pretty entertaining and it takes quite a lot of time, up to a few hours and I really enjoy doing that. I do it pretty often, and lately, I've been doing that every day... except for the past few days. Oh yeah, and drawing. That is a hobby of mine that I kinda neglected in the past year. I used to really love drawing, but I just didn't feel like doing it recently. I also love writing and wrote some online stories on Wattpad, but didn't manage to write anything in the past two years. I still have two of them unfinished: one was nearly done and has 30 chapters, but the other one was only at the beginning and only six chapters, though the latter was the best story I came up with so far. Too bad I've been on a hiatus from them. I was planning to go on a hiatus with them only for a few months cuz I was really busy at that time, but sadly, it was longer. If you're interested in reading my stories, here is the link to my Wattpad profile: https://www.wattpad.com/user/MorikawaKuroko How do you feel about how the site is run? Especially in regards to moderators and admins. Well, hehe, I have a few things I would like to point out. I guess now is my time to complain since I would not get a better chance without consequences, hahaha. Let's see, first of all with the forums. There should be an option for users to delete their threads, but there isn't. Some users just simply feel like the thread they made was a mistake, and they try to undo it but they can't. They'll keep getting notifications from that thread they have no interest in any longer. So yeah, that should be one thing that needs to be added. Another thing would be the lazy mods. There are quite a few mods who do their job properly, but most of them are lazy, and I am strictly talking about the forum mods. Few of them lock the pointless threads and do their job, BUT most of them lock threads that encourage discussions for the sake of locking something, so people would not think they do nothing on this site. There are plenty of good threads that encourage discussions but are locked, and there are plenty of absurd threads that need to be eliminated but are left unattended. This is unacceptable. One more thing: the stupid 30 characters limit. I hate that. That rule should cease to exist. Some people simply don't have too much to say, and they need to pad their post with nonsense just to be able to post their answer. It's irritating, and I've gone through that too. Second of all, the favoritism on this site. There are quite a few mods who turn a blind eye to some of their friends who break the rules, but show no mercy to others who made the slightest mistake. They also ban some users because their friend dislikes that certain user and asked the mod to ban them. The mods should be impartial and act the same with everyone when it comes to things like this. They can be friendly with people, but this does not excuse them from uneven punishment. AlexPaulLEWZ: I AGREE! Third, the stupid rules on this site. Let's face it, there are some pretty stupid rules here. I won't point out which rules cuz I am well aware that nothing will change, but I just wanted to vent my frustration about this matter. A lot of rules are simply made for convenience's sake and serve no specific purpose while others are just straight-up idiotic. Another complaint is that we are allowed to only have ten favorite characters, anime, manga, people, or we can have twenty of each if we're MAL supporters. Both ten or twenty favorites of everything is simply just not enough. I personally decided to remove my favorites because there are way too many that I like. I probably have over 100 favorite anime. Oh, and the last one: mods should really consider adding more stuff to the database. There are plenty of good Korean and Chinese works, but you can't find them here just because the mods don't want to add them. There are a few Korean and Chinese works that are here, but very few (DICE, for example). Everyone who read this webtoon will most certainly agree with me that is the most awesome work in the world. No wonder it has a 9.56 rating. I guess this is all my complaints. Everything else is fine, and I'm ok with the site so far except those things I mentioned. What's your ideal job? from @Sonal1988 Hmmm, well, something that's not very hard to do, and something that doesn't really require interacting too much with too many people, or leaving the house—something that I like. Probably a webtoon artist since I like drawing and writing stories. I guess that will work out if I combine those two. Too bad this is not a feasible way to make a living in my country unlike like in South Korea, Japan and China. But even in those countries, the job is badly paid. Which anime genre do you like the most and why? from @Sonal1988 Ugh, it's kinda hard to pick only one, but I'll try. Let's see... I guess that it would be action because I get sad when my favorite characters die. I also like the drama in this genre. If the action genre would not be an option, then it would've been either drama or horror, but since you said I can pick only one, then action. Best husbando and best waifu from anime and manga? from @Sonal1988 Can I choose from a webtoon? If yes, then it would be Jay from Lookism, but if no, then it would be Chrome from Dr. Stone. And in terms of waifu, it'll be Rem From Re;Zero without a doubt. Who do you consider people closest to you? When and where did you meet them? from @Sonal1988 Online or in real life? If it's IRL, then it'll be my college best friend. I won't disclose her name because of privacy, but she is by far the closest person to me IRL except my family. If online, then it'll be you, obviously. Well, IRL I met her in college, and online, I met you here. I don't tend to have many people around me IRL or online due to my weird personality. Describe your ideal partner in five words. from @Sonal1988 Those would be: - Smart - Beautiful - Kind - Loyal - Accepting I guess these are the qualities I look the most in someone. If they would share the same hobbies as me, then that would be a plus, but it's not mandatory. What made you dye your hair? from @Luchse I wanted to make a change. And I was wondering how I would look with my hair in another color other than my natural one. At what point in your life did you come to the conclusion that your sexual orientations were different to that of a common man? from @Luchse At probably the age of 13, maybe? Not sure, can't really remember. I always knew I'm different, but couldn't really put my finger on in what kind of way I'm different. Which BTS member would you bed? from @Luchse Definitely JungKook, without a doubt. He's hooot. Or even V, he's also quite the boyfriend material. Daniel or Jay? Choose wisely. from @Luchse Nooooo, why did you have to make me choose between those two? Well, Daniel is really nice... I mean, his personality in both bodies. If we talk in terms of looks, Daniel's new body is better, but Jay is just adorable in any kind of way... and he's not straight, unlike Daniel. So I choose Jay. Maybe I have a chance with him, lol. Jay is very nice, kind, cute, adorable, loyal, and any kind of good adjective you can find to describe him. He's an angel. Daniel is very cute, but Jay is just painfully adorable. Jay is my choice. Is there anything MAL helped you understand about the nature of people? from @Luchse Yes, people are shit and I can't do anything about it. MAL helped me understand this one crucial thing. Have your parents any knowledge about your favorite literature? from @Luchse No. my parents barely know what I like in general. How much yaoi do you have to read before it's considered gay? from @Luchse Dunno, ask @Sonal1988. She's the BL connoisseur of MAL. Who is your go-to person for deep conversations? from @Luchse Probably my noona @Sonal1988. She's the one I trust the most and usually talk to her about my problems. Also my hyeong @NekkoArc. I guess I talked with him about some deep stuff as well on Discord. In your mind, how do you think fellow MAL users portray you? from @Luchse As a stupid overly obsessive K-pop fanboy, most probably. Tell me if I'm wrong. Favorite MAL forum moments? from @Luchse Hmmm, not sure, but probably when I'm sarcastic and people misunderstand me. Or when I roleplay, pretending to be some kind of royalty and treat others like peasants. Things you loathe the most in people? from @Luchse A lot of things, but mostly when they are close-minded. I despise that. Or when they are sexist and homophobic. I just can't stand those kinds of people. Why do you have no rating in your list and also have no favorites? from @Stardew I used to have both favorites and ratings, but I decided to remove both of them because I have seen so many anime. I can't really compare an anime I saw years ago with one I saw recently and give them the same rating even if they are on a complete different level from each other. I am also too lazy to edit the rating once every few months since my taste changes pretty often, so I decided to remove the ratings and to keep everything as it is without a certain score. Same thing applies to my favorite lists since my favorites change very often. It's too bothersome to change them all the time, so I would rather not have anything in those lists. What's your favorite song of all time and currently? from @Rainbow Hmmm, hard to say since I like a bunch of songs, but if I have to choose, it would be probably Everything I Wanted from Billie Eilish or any other song from her. I love her, her voice, and her music. I recently started to listen to a bunch of her songs. I don't know, but listening to her music just calms me down so much. I really love the concept of her songs. If you could live in a different country, which would you choose and why? from @Rainbow Well, probably South Korea, but as a woman. If I was to be a man there, I would have to enlist in the army, and I really dislike that idea. South Korea is so developed and powerful in so many ways that it's hard for me to not like it. The only things I hate about that country is that men have to join the army, that the suicide rate there is the highest in the world, and that idols go through a lot of mental and physical suffering (in some cases, they might not even get there even after years of hard work). Besides those few aspects, I love the country very much, and if I were to be reincarnated and choose the gender and the country I wish to be born in, I would become a Korean woman. I would at least have a Korean boyfriend, hehehe. I can call him oppa, lol. What made you decide to major in Engineering and Design? from @Rainbow Hahaha, it was kind of an accident tbh. I heard you do lots of drawing in Design, but I thought it was artistic drawing. It wasn't, but I still ended up there. If it wasn't for that, I would've gone to some other major. I was also accepted into Computer Science with a scholarship, but I denied the request and still went to Design. My dad told me I would regret going there and he was right, but I will never admit that to him. Never. I still regret that I didn't get the idea to learn foreign languages sooner. I only got the idea when I was nearing the end of my third year, and you know, since I told you that if I were to give up there, that would mean three years wasted on nothing. Even if I were not to go to foreign languages, Computer Science would've been better than Engineering and Design. If I could turn back time, I would do things differently and be somewhere up high now. Everyone has their own biggest regret in life, and I guess this is mine. AlexPaulLEWZ: Plot twist: your father is reading this. Are you more of a tea person or a coffee person? from @Rainbow I like both equally, but I drink coffee more often, probably daily, so I can say that I'm more of a coffee person. But I like my coffee with milk and two or three teaspoons of sugar. I can't drink it if it's not sweet. Where do you see yourself in 10 years? from @NekkoArc I have no idea where I would be in the next month, let alone in 10 years. I'll be 34 then, so I would probably have my own family. Probably, or probably not, who knows. If I were to get married and have kids, I would probably have a normal life like any other married person. If I were to be in a relationship, it would probably not be too different from marriage except for the lack of kids, but if I were to be still single, I would probably work and try to reach happiness. I really have no idea what will happen, but let's first live until then. What is your current goal in life? from @NekkoArc To be happy. It used to be money, but not anymore. Now, I search for happiness. Nothing is more precious to me than happiness. Well, my family is more precious to me than happiness, but leaving them aside, happiness is the next more precious thing to me. I realized then I need to be happy to want to continue living. Do you play any instruments? from @NekkoArc No, but I tried learning the guitar by myself once. Let's just say I gave up after the second or third try. How many push-ups can you do? from @NekkoArc IF I do any (which I tried in the past), not more than ten. I struggle to reach ten, and usually kinda collapse after the ninth one. I cab barely lift myself up to say I did ten. I'm not that strong nor athletic of a person and don't often work out. What is your pet peeve when you interact with people from MAL? from @NekkoArc I'm not a person who gets annoyed easily, but usually, it annoys me when people are judgmental or ignorant and when they talk without a brain. I used to get annoyed by a lot of things in the past, but nowadays I care less and less. Also, it's hard to offend me, but some people still think I'm a snowflake who gets offended easily. They don't really know me. They don't really see my reaction and only interpret me by reading my comment, and they connect what I wrote to what kind of attitude I would be in while typing that. They don't realize that I type calmly when I say something, so they think I am either annoyed of offended, but in reality, I couldn't care less and just type what I think. People on the forums often see me as an easily offended person, which is simply not true. Yes, I can be defensive of certain stuff and argue about them, but I won't let myself be affected by an argument with a complete stranger over something insignificant. And if I choose to ignore that person, it doesn't mean I admit defeat; it means I just can't be bothered to reply to something so absurd and waste my time with such people. Arguing with some people is like arguing with a wall of bricks, not worth it. Take risks or stay safe regarding your finance? from @NekkoArc I always like to be on the safe side regarding anything. Are you a realist or an idealist? from @NekkoArc I'm a little bit of both. What is your one wish in life you want fulfilled? from @NekkoArc Hmmm, if I was asked this question ten years ago, it was to be famous, lmao. If I'll be asked this question ten years from now, my answer will probably be different from my current answer. Right now, I want to be happy and to have enough money to travel to different countries and meet different people. Spicy food or sweet food? from @NekkoArc Sweet food only if it's sweets, so spicy food. What’s your favorite dish? from @NekkoArc I don't really have one, but I like pizza and french fries. I kinda eat anything except meat since I'm a vegetarian. What brightens your mood when you’re feeling depressed? from @NekkoArc Music and crying under the blanket. Crying makes me feel wonderful after I'm done. It relieves so much stress. Did you ever break things out of anger? from @NekkoArc Not break, but throw and stab things. Don't ask. No, I did not murder anyone, lol. Do you think you have a big ego? from @NekkoArc Hmmm, I guess? Maybe sometimes. Can't say I'm too full of myself all the time. What is your favorite movie? from @NekkoArc Well, my favorite movie of all time is, of course, a horror movie, and it's called Drag Me To Hell. I first saw it in high school, probably as a freshman or sophomore, can't really remember. A classmate of mine recommended it to me and said it was awesome and I needed to see it. I thought I should give it a try and it was really worth it. Ever since then, I started to love horror movies, and now I even watch from time to time short horror stories on YouTube since I already watched most good horror movies out there. For about a year, I used to watch daily—or almost daily—a horror movie. Sometimes, I would watch multiple movies a day. I would spend my weekends marathoning horror movies. However, I can't really find good ones these days. Do you think you will ever get tired of Asian culture or leave MAL? from @NaomiAnimeLover No, that's for sure. At least it's a no when it comes to getting bored of Asian culture. I will never get bored of something I love. Regarding leaving MAL, well... we all will leave it once we die, right? I'm not an exception unless I'm immortal and will never die, but that's kinda impossible, I think. Hahaha. Not sure if I'll leave it early since I'm quite fond of this place and I've made quite a few friends here, so I'll stick around for at least a few more years. What are your favorite books? from @NaomiAnimeLover Hmmm, I guess I already got a similar question to this. I'm not sure, but I can still answer it. I... don't really like reading, at least not like reading books. I like reading webtoons the most because they have pictures and are colorful, but that's kinda it. Books are really not my thing, to be honest. I tend to get bored with them. I've read some manga, but I don't think that counts. Oh, I also read a book my sister recommended to me, which was good, but I can't say I was in love with it. Or it wasn't one, but two? Ugh, I can't remember, it's been a while since that happened. I guess there were TWO books. I don't remember their names, though. I was reading while travelling by train, and to not get bored as hell, a book and some good music were perfect to kill some time. That would probably the only time when I'll read a book, when I'm bored to death, which doesn't happen too often. Do you have people who you look up to? from @NaomiAnimeLover I guess this question or a similar one was already asked, and yes, I look up to @Sonal1988. She taught me a lot of things ever since I've met her, and during my time here, I grew up as a person. I will always be thankful to her for everything she did for me and even for every scolding she gave me because I deserved it. I learned to not make the same mistakes again, even if I still do. At least now I know when I'm doing something wrong, and she loves to stuff it in my face. What do you think about queer people? from @Shinah I don't really have too much knowledge about them. I only know a little bit, but I think of them as I think of the rest of the human population. They are humans too. I'm an LGBTQ+ supporter, so everyone who is not ''normal'' to society is completely normal to me. I am in no place to judge anyone. I haven't, am not, and will never think of people as divided into different categories like wealth, religion, race, sexuality, or anything else. For me, they are all people. I love and hate everyone equally, and think of everyone equally, that's why I'm an egalitarian. If you are in a bad mood, do you prefer to be left alone or have someone to cheer you up? from @Shinah I prefer to be alone. When I'm in a bad mood, if I have someone near me, my mood might get worse, which is usually the case since no one from my family seem to get that when I am upset. I would rather be left alone to calm down, but they barge into my room and keep bugging me with a bunch of annoying questions and they think they're cheering me on, when in reality they make things go even worse than they already were. Also, my grandma could be called the master of doing these annoying things. I remember that when I failed my driving exam, instead of leaving me alone to try to calm down, she came into my room and kept asking a bunch of questions just because she was curious and didn't care about my feelings. She just wanted to satisfy her curiosity even if I had to relive the suffering. I ended up kicking her out of my room, locking the door, going under the blanket, and crying for over an hour. Now when I go through difficult moments, I would rather tell them to my online friends and keep them from my family members and always smile to them, even if that means wearing a mask and putting up an act just to cover the misery I'm going through. In college, most of my classmates thought of me as the happiest person, when in reality, I was the complete opposite. No one in real life knows I'm suffering from depression, so everyone thinks I'm fine. What’s the one thing that people always misunderstand about you in real life or online? from @Shinah Being gay. That's one thing that a lot of people thought about me. It's true that I'm not straight, but I'm not gay either. In high school and college, some people thought I was gay, though mostly in high school. For them, people with social anxiety are considered gay, and let's make fun of them and bully them cuz why not? Those were awful and traumatic experiences tbh. I've grown up to not only hate, but despise bullying, and also people who think being gay is either a choice or a mental illness. Do you like the country you live in? Do you prefer to live in your country or abroad, and why? from @Shinah Love it just because it's beautiful in terms of landscapes and because my family lives here. Except that, I hate everything about this country. I mentioned this before, but if I were to be reborn, I would rather be born as a woman in South Korea. Every country has its flaws, but at least that country is better than this one in most aspects. What got you into K-pop? from @Shinah Haha, funny story. I was surfing on YouTube and came across a song called "FIRE" from a group called BTS. Since the name was in English, I thought it was a song in English. I clicked on the video because I liked the picture in the thumbnail (now it's a different one) and I listened to it. To my surprise, they were singing in a language I didn't understand. I didn't even know it was Korean back then. That was my very first time listening to a Korean song. I can say BTS was the group that got me into K-pop, and that song of theirs was my favorite for weeks in a row until I stumbled across their other songs. FIRE is still my favorite even after listening to their other songs. After that, I got into other groups like BlackPink, and the first song I listened from them was probably "Boombayah", followed by "EXO", "Seventeen", and "Twice". Later on, I got into more and more K-pop groups. I remember the first song I listened from Twice was "Likey" and the first from Stray Kids was "Hellevator". Then, I got more into K-pop and discovered "Mamamoo", "Momoland", "Kard", "Astro", and many others. I have about 20 or more K-pop groups I listen to. I used to listen only to boy groups, then I switched to girl groups. Now, I'm listening from both genders equally. Lol, this question made me listen to some of those songs while replying cuz it gives me nostalgic feelings. So in conclusion, BTS got me into K-pop thanks to their song FIRE. If I were to stumble across another song from another group, I might've never got into KPop. I managed to spread the K-pop virus to many of my friends online, not only those from MAL. Also, my sister listens to K-pop, and she managed to contaminate her best friend and our cousin with the virus. K-pop is contagious; you just need to cross over the point of no return, and once you do that, there's no escaping. I will never regret getting into the genre. Who are your favorite K-pop artists and groups? What do you like about them? Well, if we talk only about artists, like solo artists, those would be Sunmi, IU, and Taeyeon, but if we talk about K-pop groups, I have a lot of them. Those would be BTS, EXO, Twice, BlackPink, Mamamoo, Momoland, NCT, Seventeen, TXT, EXID, KARD, Astro, and probably another 20 groups that don't come to mind right now. If I were to only choose those who I listen to the most, they would be BlackPink, Twice, BTS, Mamamoo, Momoland, and KARD. I listen to others as well, but not so often as I do with the aforementioned groups and artists. I also listen to other solo artists too, but those three mentioned are the ones I like the most. Especially Sunmi, she's the queen. Hmmm, why do I like them? Well, mostly because of the music, like, not just the sound of it, but the lyrics as well, specifically the message they send through the lyrics. Second would be the aesthetics of the video and the colors, as well as the dance moves. Not just because the songs are really catchy, but because the dance moves are really catchy too. Lastly, probably because of their looks. I mean, every K-pop artist is good-looking. In this industry, it's kinda required to look good, so most of them, if not all of them have to meet this standard. There are many other reasons why I like them, but the major ones are the ones I listed. Especially the music, both instrumental and vocal, and the MVs. For example, if you wanna see an aesthetically pleasing K-pop MV with good music and two beautiful girls, I would recommend this one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A0F6j60lIVI A friend recommended this to me and I can't stop falling in love with it over and over again. The fact that it's gay-friendly makes me love it even more. Watching the video will surely make you understand why I like it so much. Since you know many languages, do you also like travelling? If so, what are some countries that you have visited or want to visit in the future? Well, I do travel every year, but sadly, I never got the chance to go to any other country. I've just visited parts of my country so far. Every year, I travel with my family and some family friends to different places in our country. To be honest, I would like to travel in my own country and see all the different places first before travelling to other countries. It would be kinda weird to travel to a lot of countries but know nothing about my own. But I do plan in the future to travel to other countries. On my list are South Korea, Japan, Spain, China, and if possible, Egypt. Not sure if I would be able to go to all of them or even to any of them, but I always tell myself to never stop dreaming and keep going no matter what. Hope has to be the last one to vanish. Have you ever thought about getting back into writing and drawing? Yes, I did. And this is not just a thought, I WILL go back into them someday. It's not like I've completely abandoned them since they are a hobby that I enjoy doing. I just took a break, a long one actually, but nothing permanent. I was thinking of combining those two hobbies and making something beautiful. If I had Photoshop skills, I would probably be a webtoon artist and make my own webtoons. Writing a good story and drawing action sequences would not only make me happy, but also a way to relax and forget about all the stress and problems in the world. Could you recommend us some of your favorite dramas? Hahaha, that would be VERY hard, but I'll try my best. I have a loooot of dramas that I really enjoyed. Since I saw more than 270 titles, there are quite a few I wouldn't mind rewatching. I'll try to keep the list brief despite the difficulty of doing so. I'll list them down below in alphabetical order.
I tried to put as little as I could, so here are a FEW of my favorite dramas. Only O-Negative is Thai; all the others are Korean. If I were to list every single drama that I liked, I guess my list would not have less than 150 dramas listed. Which sections and topics on the forums do you like the most? Well, I am mostly on CD, so that would be the one since you can find the biggest diversity of threads there. I also go to AD sometimes, but there are only anime-related threads, so I prefer CD. When it comes to which threads I like the most, they usually are the ones where I can actually reply. There are plenty of shitposting there, and I usually try to avoid such topics, but sometimes I end up replying to those too. But yeah, mostly I like topics that are relevant. I can't really give an example of such topics now, but I guess something where I can reply with over 30 characters. Threads where I can spend up to 10 or 15 minutes typing my answer. Those are the ones that I like the most. Do you see yourself leaving MAL in the near future? No, not in the near future. I'm too attached to this site and I have no reason to leave. I have friends here and it's been pretty fun. Any feedback on the interview format? No complaints. Everything was very good. Is there something unasked you would like to talk about? Not really. I guess I was asked everything that had to be asked. Could you recommend us three users from which we can choose to interview in the future and why? Yes. Here are some, but there's no specific order. @NaomiAnimeLover - Interesting and smart kid. She deserves to get an interview. I bet she has a lot to say. I like the way she views things, and it would be great if she could debate them in an interview. @Rainbow - Realized that she can talk about subjects other than K-pop, so I would love to send her different questions on different topics if she gets elected. @Luchse - I want to see what this bitch has to say and elaborate on different subjects. I nominated him just to be able to get under his skin. Jokes aside, he really deserves to get his own interview. He might be a bitch, but he speaks well. I excluded @Shinah and @Sonal1988 since the two of them already got their own interview, but if I were to choose more than just three people, the two of them would've been in this list too. That is the end of the interview. Thank you for reading. |

@Kuroko-chan On behalf of the MAL Interviews staff team, I would like to apologize for the long delay regarding your interview. There were lots of internal issues during the proofreading process, so it took us some time to resolve them. Do forgive us for the trouble. |
