Any suggestions for action/adventure anime with a male protag that doesn't have ecchi or too sappy boy-girl interactions?
Preferably long running and after 2004. (Less like noragami, unlike one piece and more like Gintama).
Watched and mostly liked:
1)HunterxHunter,
2) FMAB, Naruto/boruto (up-to-date),
3)Jojo and DBS (both up-to- date),
4)Mob Psycho 100,
5)Steins Gate,
6)Death Note,
7)One Punch Man (up-to-date),
8)Berserk 1997( up to date with manga)
9)Mushishi,
10) Samurai X,
11)Parasyte (manga)
and finally
12)Gintama (up-to-date),
^Above list is NOT AT ALL in order/ ranked.I just added numbers for convince.
●Tried and despised: Code Geass, One piece, Bleach, Fairy tail, Tokyo Ghoul. ← These are either way too ecchi, have plotholes or have redundant storylines, etc.
※Tried looking alot, but couldn't find anime with good reviews (e.g Black Butler etc etc). Also of anyone can suggest an anime with lighthearted humor mixed with action like Gintama/ Naruto Fillerppuden I'll be greatful.

Isn't Samurai Champloo too short? (14 or less epsiodes). It's on my watchlist tho.
Btw, I dont mind profanity, I just don't want panty shots every episode being sold as 'humor' or 15 year old kids moaning/gasping/panting everytime they come across a member from the opposite sex and constantly 'finding' themselves on the floor, on top of each other.

@Dauphine I tried Hitman Reborn (6 episodes), didn't like the premise and character design , felt like a knock off Doraemon.
Can you tell me more about Zetsuen no Tempest? What audience group does it cater to?
Thanks for the list.

@Shicchi Is owari no seprah like berserk plotwise? Can you tell me briefly what the story is about? The character design was kind of a damper.
I didn't like My Hero Academia's char design and concept. I dropped it but maybe I'll get back to it eventually.

I haven't watch Berserk, only heard lots about it. And I think it's nothing alike, unfortunately.

Owari no Seraph is set in a post-apocalyptic world, where the vampire reign over humans. Enter Japan Imperial Demon Army, a military force to fight off vampires. That's the basic setting of the story.

But the story is far from simple though. To fight off the vampires, humanity have been doing forbidden research using demons. They make contract with demons and weaponize them.

There are mysteries all over the place and it will be revealed piece by piece as the story progressed. It's not at all black and white.

The protagonist is a young boy, that managed to run away from vampire base, that costed him his whole families being slaughtered in front of his eyes. Since then he swore to kill vampires and so he joined the army.

The highlight for me is, aside from how much I love post apocalyptic settings (our modern world portrayed in ruins and such), I like the action and the characters. 2nd season is better than the first imo. Bcs S1 mostly just introduction of the main group iirc. Oh, there is also this girl wielding a huge schyte. I love characters using schyte as weapon lol.

As for art style, I guess we have differrent taste lol. I'm very much love bnha art style (it's distinctive and have personality), but Owari no Seraph is just a pure eye candy to me lmao. Especially the manga.

If you like oversized weapons and medieval setting you'll like berserk then, lol. I tried to watch owari no seprah but the 1st 4 mins was a major turn off, I'll give it a try again i guess.

Why not romance? :( , and your criteria's are pretty hard to find.
Well anyways :

Magi : Im pretty sure you will like Magi, its a pretty good lighthearted Shounen and fits all your criteria.

Others :
Tokyo ghoul = Dark themed
Parasyte = Dark themed
Akame ga Kill = Dark themed
Shingeki no Kyojin = Dark themed
Slime = Lighthearted

Owari no seraph +1 = It has little to no romance, and it's not YAOI like most people are thinking. The action scenes are superb imho.
The first episode is a bit of a turn off I admit but it gets pretty interesting, its more dark-themed than lighthearted though

Edit : Magi is my Fav non-100episode shounen

I would suggest Inuyasha (2000-2010) as it's my favorite, we have a number of favorites or "mostly enjoyed" series in common, and it very closely fits that description, but I think you might find it too close to Noragami with its romantic subplot and comedy style. Actually, Noragami's probably the closest thing to it, except Noragami has a little more pronounced comedic and lighthearted tone throughout, so if that's what you disliked about it, then the comedy in Inuyasha is more sporadic, muted, and less disruptive to the plot, in my view. A bit difficult to compare though since Noragami only has had two seasons.

I don't like 'romance' anime because most of them are just teenagers with excessive hormones/too ecchi/ harem/ the stories are too superficial. I do like clean and well written romance stories now and then in my action/adv anime.
Oops I read Parasyte(ok read) and Tokyo Ghoul manga(meh read).
TG animes were 'horrible' and I'm being polite when I say that, and AoT is on hold :P.
Isn't Magi that anime with the Arabian nights theme? On hold as well. I don't mind yaoi, it's ok if a show has yaoi but I don't think I'll like Seprah whether it has it or not.
Will try slime thanks for your input :) !

Will you be able to tell me in brief about overlord( like what is it about)? I've seen people say that Overlord is disturbing/has bad plot.

Norgami stops being comedic after literally 2 episodes. I expected more from it tbh, maybe the manga is good but the anime was bad. It had bad pacing, badly choreographed fights, the character development felt rushed and forced: Yato getting a shrine was premature imo and he developed feelings for Hiyori so fast, like dude you're a god! And the overall atmosphere was so sappy, at times depressing and edgy.
That said, I'll give inuyasha a try even tho the protag appears to be a furry :P .

Kekkai Sensen (if you like Gintama) - 2 seasons
Tanya the Evil - the MC is a girl with a guy's soul inside. Pretty short but there will be season 2

If you are interested with Manga, I'd suggest World Trigger if you like HxH. No ecchi whatsoever. Skip the anime as it has poor quality outside action scenes.

I actually rarely watch dub.If I wasn't comfortable with subs I'd have not been able to watch Gintama and that show has some fast dialogue sequences in anime.
