| welcome to mal! you probably haven't watched enough to know what 'average' is so you keep reshuffling when something new ruins your scale. don't worry about ratings for now and just watch more shows; you can always amend ratings retroactively. otherwise you can try what some reviewers do: 2 pts for plot, 2 pts for characters, 2 pts for music, 2 pts for animation, 2 pts for enjoyment for a total of 10 pts. |

| use the scale the way its meant to be, and no one will ever give a shit about you score, so score it as per your enjoyment only. if you love a show, give it a ten, if you love another show give it a ten too. dont compare them, thats where you'll get fucked up. objectively HXH is the only ten, but azumanga daioh and squid girl are very different compared to HXH, all are sitting at a perfect 10. |

| My biggest thing would be to remember that sometimes something just isn’t your flavor. So try to judge objectively. It’s tough but what I try to do is think of the score I would give it for my enjoyment then I think of the if there were things done well that I personally had affliction with. Then I score it accordingly. Also Welcome to MAL! |
| Heey welcome to MAL and the Forums :D Rating wise in the beginning I didn't know what to rate I started rating from the beginning but kinda turned a bit around and got a bit more off a critic because I've seen real great animes the advise I would say give it time watch more animes and don't rate to much at first :) If u want to message me in the comments or have recommadations or need a friend to talk to I'm regular online and happy to talk with ya :D!
