| I'm mostly an anime guy and it has been quite some time since I read a good manga, so I thought I'd ask for some good manga recommendations. There is only one catch, it can't have been adapted into an anime. Anything goes apart from that. It doesn't even need to be amongst your favs (as in it could be something you think is overlooked). | I'm sure you've heard of this one: 20th Century Boys. An absolute Manga masterpiece from Naoki Urusawa. The beginning can feel slightly 'Slice of Life-esque', but once it gets going; it's excellent. |
| The Promised Neverland. It's about some orphans that find out that their orphanage is a farm, and they are demon food. It's got beautiful artwork and a lot of (intense) mind games. |

| Ah yes! I get to recommend Saikyou Densetsu Kurosawa for the first time on these forums! ...Well, it's a good manga. My favourite manga actually. I took a quick look at your profile and it seems you have both Akagi and Kaiji as favourites, so you'll be happy to know this manga was made by the same guy who did those. It's not about gambling, but it's absolutely his best work. If the story of the emotional growth of a ruined man who seeks redemption for his so far wasted life seems interesting, then do give it a try. It's got action, it's got comedy, it's got drama, it's got its own philosophical moments... ironically enough, the only thing it lacks is the gambling element typical of Fukumoto's other works. |
