| Uh... No, that's not true. Using "uh" and "eh" doesn't mean that you are just "circulating the conversation" or that you can't get to the point. Usually when people use those words, they are doing it to express uncertainty or confusion or disbelief in an informal manner. |

| Hey, I love my ughs, erms and ehs >8C I use them to refer to my emotional sighs, like "UGHHHH OUSAMA GAME IS LIT" (don't worry, it's not lit). Tho true, I don't see the point of using them in forums TOO much. You can take your time to plan and write a comprehensive message, it's not an oral convo where you make pauses to formulate a thought further and have to fill them up with something. |
| Some Writing Styles may come off as odd, considering that a written Text is supposed to be written in written Language as opposed to using oral Language. However, Forums are a much more casual Literary Genre compared to writing an Article or even a Book. As such, there are more stylistic Devices like Smileys or certain Abbreviations such as "lol", "b2t" or "imho" you can use that you cannot do so in an Essay. I am fine with every Writing Style for as long as it can be understood. But then again, whenever I see someone use the "Thought Snippets"-Style indicated by three consecutive Dots, I do wonder whether or not the respective User can phrase a formal Text. |

| Millenials have done a bang up job of creating an alright mirror of the spoken word to written. When people use "uh" or any kind of slang in text I don't mind it; in fact I think it shows a touch of genuine, written off the top of the head kind of thought oftentimes which is good for bridging gaps created by not actually being face to face. Emojis kindof do the same thing but I find those are more for barbarians younger people. :p |
| Well I'm not writing a formal essay when I'm chatting with friends on discord am I? Some people simply enjoy putting their casual speech habits into typed words where the subject matter is just as casual. It's just putting yourself into your writing, so I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. If it's annoying or not here then I don't see why it shouldn't be the same IRL. |
