Is there possible that they just stay in the forest for more than 2 week without finding out escape route??

Although it was shown that Amane used "X" days to find the way back to civilization, but how come they cannot find the way back starting from the first day?

Even if you walk totally straight from your starting point, eventually you will find something.

It's too risky to send "Recon" team too far from the main group. If you walk straight into more forest and get lost from the main group, that would be a bigger problem.

They also didn't have traveling equipments.

The main group couldn't move either, they must take care of the injured students.

That whole scenario was not realistic at all. They had a source of fresh running water, a forest full of food and they ended up starving and going mad in like 10 days when the average person can go 3 weeks without food. Plus they didnt even think to starting a signal fire which is something a child could figure out. Well it was a bunch of highschool girls so it probably was realistic hahaha.

Yeah, pretty much. I kept wondering to myself while reading the novel if the author had any knowledge of the subject or if they were just trying to make the darkest story they could think of.

I only know relatively basic survival skills from hunting, camping, and mountain hiking but I feel confident I could have made it out and that the people in the story didn't even try. Worst case scenario they could have sent people out in the cardinal directions a little each day and used the tools they had to mark their progress. A broken compass isn't an excuse when you can see the sun.

Not to mention... bathing in your drinking water source? Seriously? That and not conserving their supplies from the start are like, extremely basic things.
