The 18th issue of this year's Weekly Shounen Jump has announced that manga Haikyuu!! will bundle a new OVA with its 27th volume, shipping on August 4. Titled Tokushuu! Harukou Volley ni Kaketa Seishun, the OVA episode will revisit the primary matches from the spring tournament and features interviews with players.

Haikyuu!! began its serialization in February 2012. The series currently has 25 compiled volumes in print, with the 26th volume scheduled to be released on May 2. The manga received three TV anime seasons, two Jump Festa Specials, and two recap movies. Two new recap movies have also previously announced to receive this Fall.

So it's basically a recap episode in form of an OVA even though there will be recap movies?

I guess so. I think the reason is they cannot really release new episodes without Sugawara's seiyuu being absent.

No wonder we're not getting Osomatsu-san sequel announcement..

However, the anime catched the manga very fast... They have material for another season (25 ep. aprox), but after that, they'll have to wait maybe 1-2 years more for the next 5 volumes ( I think it's 5 Vol/Anime Season).

Not encouraging at old :/

That's cool and all, but is it really necessary with both recap movies coming out?

YAY!

Then again, they could say they're shipping out socks with the Haikyuu!! logo and I would still be excited
