I really respect people who know Japanese specific culturel well like history,geography,martial arts etc. even Japanese don't know well. They give me insight. Maybe if you see people from other country who know your culture well, you would be impressed. Sadly Sometimes these people are also called weeaboo. I have to admit people who only observe Japanese anime is kind of regarded weard in Japan but which is very typical to see. Thier knowledge of Japan is mainly based on anime but they purely enjoy what they like which is nice. I have some exchange students friends at my school and some of them come to Japan because of anime. And surprisingly they also make fun of weeaboo which sounds kind of .... you know... They are always talking how weeaboo is disgusting and its definition and how different they are from weeaboo. But whatever it's definition is, to listen to them endlessly is kind of tiring and dare to talk back them is more tiring. If ordinary people who are not into anime say that, I could understand what they say but anime watchers are more likely to do that. I guess it is partly because they just want to justify themselves to watch anime by doing that. This is my rough opinion so don't take it seriously and if it sounds offensive, I do not mean it and sorry for that. |
