I'm new to watching anime, and so far I've loved everything I've seen (except psycho pass season 2). I just finished School Days, and being the kind of person who can't stand the normal highschool anime unless it has a very interesting premise/plot, I was pleasantly surprised about this one. I'm really into Eroguro, and I just absolutely loved where this anime went in the end.

(Spoiler)

Basically everyone killing each other. And to be honest, considering some of the other anime's that I've seen- a dark, realistic, serious but funny, anti-happy ending is literally the best change of pace and really made me fall in love with the story. Not that I didn't feel for the characters, I absolutely did and it made it that much better.

I've heard that there is a spin off called Summer Days, and while I really don't expect it to be similar to School Days (for the most part anyway), I did like School days enough to be curious in how the same people who were involved in creating it would handle a spin off.

The problem is, I don't know if summer days was adapted into an anime or not- I only see info on it existing as a visual novel so I knew someone on this forum would be able to clue me in on it. I'd be disappointed if not- I'll probably get the visual novel for both School Days and Summer Days regardless. Thanks for any help in advance.

Oh and also Cross Days. If there hasn't been any anime adaptations of these two, does anyone know of a plan to do so?

Ummmm, School Days is pretty unique and it's probably gonna be hard to find something similar...

Might I suggest you look for some eroguro visual novels? I mean the School Days anime is based off of a VN.

Yup, it's only a visual novel, no anime adaptation of that.

There were no info about Cross Days vn getting any anime adaptation plans either :< Sorry!

Thanks for the info! Even though that kinda bums me out. I've never played a VN, but I'll definitely have to try it for the first time with School Days VN. Thanks again.

Well... I usually have a really hard time finding anime that I'm really into. I asked about eroguro stuff on this forum a few weeks ago and did get a lot of helpful responses but I only came out with euphoria (really good OVA) and a manga mai-chan's daily life- I think. Basically anything with sex, mutilation, decapitation, rape, murder, that type of stuff. I just can't ever find any animes that are like this. I haven't seen Daughter's of Rin yet but someone told me that might be something I'd like. If you have any ideas for some VN's or anime that I'd be into like that, that'd be great too.

Thanks for the quick response, by the way. I appreciate the help.

One of the most well known eroguro visual novels is Saya no Uta, you should check it out. Euphoria's vn was also translated some time ago, so if you enjoyed the OVA series you should probably go for it too.

Thanks for the reply and recommendation. I looked at Saya but it doesn't really seem like my kind of thing. Maybe some pictures of things I'm into might help with finding a visual novel or anime I like.

A link to my onedrive eroguro pic examples. I mean euphoria was pretty tame I thought, but it's been the closest thing to what I like so far. I've been coasting by just collecting eroguro pictures lately but It is getting old fast so it'd be nice to have an anime or VN as violent as these.

So you can't possibly search for Summer Days on Mal or look up wikipedia for it but decided to ask people if there is an anime adaptation or not. Okay...

Oh and if you are looking for VN recs you should post in the games forum, not here.

I wasn't looking for VNs. I was originally looking for animes ( about a spin-off from School days). And yes, but Wikipedia doesn't always include all information, and I've seen other titles where this is true and had to find out there have been anime adaptations from other sources (like forums).
Thanks for the helpful advice though, otherwise I would never have thought to check using a search engine. I'm really glad you were here to share that insight- and this forum is really lucky to have such a helpful poster on it's boards. Oh and let's not forget it's all because of my non-existent Wikipedia search that led me to find Higurashi when they cry and Pupa. Because ibraheem, a user on this forum, certainly did not. You're a true thinker among men.

Again, thanks a ton! I knew I heard of Higurashi somewhere but it looks really good! I'm not really sure if it involves anything erotic but I'll find out soon. And looking it up brought me to find an anime called Pupa- apparently it involves an incestuous brother/sister relationship involving inter-cannibalism. I also have Another on my crunchy roll playlist, but I didn't know anything about it's content at all- it was just a recommendation from someone so I'll have to put that at the top of the playlist. I really appreciate it, ibraheem! You too, jak123 and Kitsu-nee. Thanks for the help.

No it's fine. It's what I was aiming for but I usually don't expect to find that kind of stuff on a commercial market. I just really appreciate the recommendations of purely violent things also- as I mentioned before, while I do somewhat enjoy moe stuff, even if there's no eroticism I do really love violent/gory anime's. You guys definitely helped a bunch.

edit: I know I somewhat mentioned it- I don't know if anyone else feels the same way, but while a happy ending and plot is great when used in a compelling/interesting manner with a gravitational plot, an anti-happy story that manages to bring up a lot of different feelings from happy to excited to sad to tragic is a really nice change of pace.

Sure thing, I'm a giant fan of anime-gore stuff too, just not into the erotic kind :p But if you are fine with just bloody series, I do have a few more anime recommendations:

Series with gore and engaging plot:
Higurashi no Naku Koro ni
Shiki
Fate Zero
Kiseijuu: Sei no Kakuritsu

Silly, mindless, bloody fun:
Mirai Nikki
Elfen Lied
Corpse Party

As for translated visual novels, I forgot to mention "Yandere", it features cannibalism too so it might be what you are looking for. Also, you should ask @Pabloc for help, eroguro is his kink, I'm sure he'll help you if you ask nicely :D

Oh, did someone mention guro? ^^

@mwkazlow
You won't find any animes featuring solid guro. Mnemosyne (that's probably what you meant by Daughters of Rin) is probably the closest you can get to actual gruo, and it's very good overall. But other than that...? You can probably find a few H-OVAs with some slightly more hardcore content, but nothing really noteworthy. Euphoria aside, I think Hotaruko had some bloody scenes, but it's nothing special really.
As for just gory stuff, Kitsu-nee already listed the best titles to start with.

Manga is a much better source of actual guro. For starters, check out these authors:
Shintarou Kago - for bizarre and surreal, but (usually) quite intelligent satire, featuring a ton of grotesque stuff. It has porn, but it's not the strongest point (his artstyle just doesn't work too well as ero).
Suehiro Maruo - for more serious works, with top-notch artwork, good and dark storylines, but without too much H (I'd say it's more on the erotic side, not strictly pornographic).
Saizou Horihone - for bizarre mutations and extremely weird shit in general, but without much violence (those stories are actually kinda cute). His works usually offer rather solid H - a strange, vanilla-guro stuff.
Waita Uziga - for extremely crude guro porn. I'm not a huge fan of his works really (Mai Chan's Daily Life is one of them) - their plot is far too silly to take the violence seriously (and that significantly lowers its impact), but at the same time it's too stupid to be funny. Maybe with one exception - High School Girl in Concrete (form Modern Stories of the Bizarre), since it's actually based on a real story. That's disturbing.
Kawady Max - if the combination of cute little girls and brutal ero sounds good to you, you won't be disappointed.
I think the latter suggestions will suit your tastes the most.

However, if you are really interested in fucked up stuff, you should get into Visual Novels. That's were you can find the best, most hardcore guro, with full-color pictures, music, voice acting and all that fancy stuff. Unfortunately, not many companies like to translate the more extreme titles, so you should probably start thinking of learning Japanese right about now... (it's easier than you probably think, as far as only reading VNs is concerned). :P
From the translated titles, you can check out Euphoria and Yandere for now, but what you really should be waiting for is Maggot Baits. Trust me, you want to read Maggot Baits (I think I'll read it one more time in ENG myself, especially if they uncensor the CGs). Just take a look at the OP movie (censored for YT, but still not safe for sane people, so others should proceed with caution ^^).
But the real fun begins when you can read Japanese. That's when you get to THE good stuff - VNs made by Black Cyc, Cyclet, Valkyria, and other gore/guro-oriented companies, that often feature tons of great, grotesque H combined with very interesting storylines.

On a side note - School Days (and other "Days" titles) is a series focused on drama/romance (and love polygons), not on gory stuff. That happens only in a few most extreme bad endings (and I think only in School Days? Shiny Days and Cross Days seem to be gore-free). It's worth reading for a slightly more down-to-Earth approach to love triangles and harems, where things can go badly, but if you approach it with the anime in mind, you might be disappointed.
And Saya no Uta is a great horror/romance, but it's not exactly what you're looking for indeed. It's definitely brutal and gory, so you can consider giving it a try when you're in the mood for a grimdark story focused on love and insanity.

Its better than School Days IMO and it focuses on the same problem: loyalty

The chracters actions are actually reasonable and the OP and ED both bring tears to your eyes.

You should try to read at least the op before writing pointless posts.

@Ibraheem

So I've looked further into When they Cry and saw the first two episodes online for free. In episode 1, after getting really excited for the first 60 second intro (a kid chopping up multiple girls), the rest of the episode drastically changed mood and I thought to myself "Jesus Christ, this is probably just some chibi cutesy-mootsy moe anime crap with some hints of violence thrown in from time to time. But I stuck it out and watched the second episode. I was definitely happy with it at that point! Although the second episode didn't actually contain violence, the show obviously drastically progressed- in just one episode- from a chibi/rainbows and unicorns/skipping through fields of flowers anime to a obviously dark psychological thriller/mystery with clear signs of sociopathic, dangerous cute girls (Nothing gets me more excited than young female characters with that distinct personality.) Even though I have not seen the 3 episode, for some reason just based on how strong of a progression in mood and setting/plot there was taking place from ep 1 to ep 2, I just have a feeling that each episode will just get darker, more sociopathic/psychopathic, violent, and thrilling as time goes on. That and of course what I've heard from other people about the series. So I'm buying the blu ray today and will watch the rest of it when it arrives, because it's clear I will like this anime.

I also liked how it handled itself- in that it doesn't feel like a natural, pointless progression from happy chibi moe to psychological thriller in just 1 episode, but instead it feels as though the authors/directors purposely attempt to make you feel like the anime is something completely different, and then calms you down by reassuring "Don't worry. See? There will definitely be some manic cute girls committing serious murders more than just often." It just felt like a better approach- being severely disappointed in the first episode, only to have the anime *begin* to show it's true colors in the 2nd episode- rather than just right off the bat have the entire first episode re-enforce what you already expected the series to be like. I thought this was a very interesting take on direction and approach, whether it was intended or not.

As for your recommendation of Another- after seeing a review that had minimum spoilers, it still sounds good because of violence (I haven't seen any of it, though. Not even clips) but I really prefer eroguro/guro that isn't centered or based on the paranormal. I prefer extreme violence due to psychopathic/sociopathic tendencies in a somewhat happy environment/setting. Crazy, in other words. Still, I heard good things about it (which sometimes means nothing because not too many people have my tastes) and will look more into it later, maybe try and episode or two before buying a blu ray.

So thanks again for the recommendations! I'm really happy with Higurashi so far so it is much appreciated.

@Kitsu-nee

I've looked further into Elfen Lied, and just as most other animes in this whole thread, while it isn't exactly my cup of tea without erotic gore, I still am really excited about this one. I've only seen a few clips and have read/heard some summaries of how exactly the anime plays out and what goes on, and I can already tell that this is something I'll absolutely love. It isn't paranormal so it feels like violence I can somewhat be grounded in and imagine in real life- yet it isn't realistic enough to make it feel like "just another gory anime" and carries with it an interesting plot. At least as far as I know, this is correct. I'm ordering the blu ray today so I really am grateful for the awesome recommendation! I'm really excited for this one as well as Higurashi. Thanks again!

@Pabloc

Thank you for the response, I'll look into Hotaruko for sure even though you said it wasn't very noteworthy, I might like it. I have a feeling we have the same interests and tastes as far as anime/manga kinks go so I definitely feel comfortable with your recommendations.

High School Girl in Concrete sounds amazing to me. I will definitely be getting a copy of that and reading it through. I still haven't read Mai-chan's daily life so Hopefully it's not as bad as some of his other works, from what you've said.

As Far as Kawady Max's work goes- yes, I am in fact mostly into cute younger girls either doing extremely sociopathic and violent things or having it done to them. Preferably, but not exclusively in an erotic execution. I will have to look into these mangas because this is really right up my alley.

I will be buying Euphoria and Yandere VNs. But really? Really?! Maggot Baits literally sounds like a dream come true in the sad world of heavily censored/tame animes. Seriously this got me the most excited out of any other suggestions. Sadly bestiality is a huge turn off for me but it looks like it involves much more than just that type of interaction. I can't find a release date for the eng translation though! I'm on mangagamer's MaggotBaits page and can't find anything on it.

You guy's definitely helped me out a lot. I owe you one, that's for sure.

You're welcome. And damn, we really have very similar tastes. You sick bastard. ^^
dangerous cute girls
You will probably really like Saya no Uta then. It might be a horror with supernatural stuff and all, but the worst things happen because of very down-to-earth human madness. Gen Urobuchi is really good at writing insane, psychopathic characters. And Saya is my favorite loli. ^^

As for Hotaruko, I might be a bit harsh on the anime, because the visual novel is so much better in every way (it's actually a story-oriented, ~25h-long Lovecraftian horror - anime only borrows the title and a few characters from it, but it's completely unrelated story-wise). The VN isn't translated though.

Translating Maggot Baits will probably take some time, so they don't have a fixed release date yet. It's a rather new VN after all. And you don't have to worry about bestiality, I think it only had that one scene that was in the OP. I might be missing something, since I have read it about a year ago, but bestiality certainly wasn't common there.

There's one more VN that probably will be right up your alley that's currently being fan-translated: https://forums.fuwanovel.net/topic/15227-shi-ni-iku-kimi-yakata-ni-mebuku-zouo-translation-project/
It's absolutely awesome as well (like most gory things written by Ban'ya Izumi). ^^
