Exactly what title says. nowadays, I watch a show and then forget about it, kind of missed the times when I would feel depressed and actually care after I finished a show

it is like fibbonaci sequence.. first you need just 1 1 2 3 shows, easy
but before you know it, it takes 233 shows to get that feel again
it also depends on the show.. latest one for me was Ima Soko ni Iru Boku ;-;

To be honest, it rarely happens to me either.

I think it's because we're used to shows ending now. It used to be that thanks to western media, we were just not used to shows ending. Fairly Oddparents went on forever. Danny Phantom went on forever. Spongebob went on practically forever.

After our gateway into anime, we watched other shows and those shows ended. I remember even getting post anime depression after shows like Nagasarete Airantou (which isn't bad, just above average.) I just wasn't used to FINISHING a series.

I've only felt slight post-anime depression in shows like Knights of Sidonia, The Legend of the Legendary Heroes, No Game No Life and shows like that. Shows that show that they could go further. That they have more to tell and could tell it if only they had the desire to.

TLDR; You're just getting used to the fact that anime actually end.

Only the suckiest and mainstream animes get me feeling this way. Naruto? Tear fest. Why? Because my tears do not know quality.

I get it all the time, it's always after the anime that I love, like not just a good anime but a really inspiring one, and lot's of things just happen and then the ending, the endings happy and the story is over, like nothing else in the story could be added to it, and because the stories done your just there like 'what do I do with myself now'

I doubt that actually helped tbh but hopefully you will be able to understand it ;)

Maybe you're not watching the right things?

I actually like having that feeling too. Reminds me that I still have feelings that work.
I guess the more anime you watch the more you get used to the fact that they're going to end.

But let's just face it, most anime is crap and not really deserving of that feeling.

You need to watch a GOOD, long show about characters you end up caring about enough to miss them after they're gone. Good luck finding it.

The last time I felt like seriously dying was when I finished re-reading the entire Harry Potter series.
I get post-anime depression whenever I get emotionally invested or attached to the anime that I just watched like Nagi no Asukara, Naruto S., and other stuffs. I'm like "what the fuck am I supposed to do with my life now" tbh.

Re-watch it or read comments about that anime, read posts from other fans, search for GIF and pictures, go to anime forum sites and watch something else.

Trust me post-anime depression is just a psychological thing, you just need to get a job and live a "normal" life.

Why would you miss being depressed?

As long as you still enjoy your shows while you are watching them not being depressed afterwards is a good thing imo.
I probably regret this post by now.

Probably got way to used to just moving on. There was a time where I got depressed over incomplete anime that didn't have manga or LN translations, almost every single series that ended unsatisfyingly. Now... meh who cares, next show please.

Which is why I basically ignore people who whine for new season of their favourite anime, yet have barely watched many anime themselves. They should get move on to much better shows.
If your favourite character is Tsutsukakushi Tsukiko, you are my soul mate.

Been a long time since I've been here, I'll continue expressing myself freely and believe everyone should too.

I haven't watched a show that would make me depressed because it finished for a loong time. So idk. Probably move on and pick up something else. Something from a different medium for example.

Maybe you need to watch less anime so you can actually think about it before starting something new.
Personally I tend to watch a lot of 'fine' anime daily and avoid those I'd most likely feel attached to for as long as possible. Because I don't have time for those thoughts and feelings, I have to wait for the right moment.

When I feel hollow after watching an anime, I just lay down on my bed and I start thinking about how awesome it was. After starting to feel better, I resume my life normally.
