I finished the Soul Society arc about two months ago and I decided to drop Bleach because I heard it only gets worse from there. I'm kind of a completionist and it ticks me off that I read about one third of a series. Is it worth reading? I'm in it for the characters and the story.

Did you enjoy the Soul Society arc? If so, then by all means continue. IMO, never drop anything just because the majority tell you to do so; you should always see for yourself. Who knows? You could be one of the few who prefer future arcs.

However, if you didn't care for Soul Society arc, then yeah, may as well drop it.

I really want to tell you to continue it, but I just can't and I'm gonna anwser something honestly... I dropped it at about a bit over half of the whole series, after relucantely reading it once in a while. I enjoyed the characters, but I felt like Kubo tried to create too many too fast and didn't knew what to do with them, leading to incredibly dumb decisions with them or just downright being cannon fodder with a personaity, and stuff that makes no sense out of nowhere.

I tried reading a bit of it here and there and it somehow got way worse. Kubo keeps on backpaddling with Ichigo's... origin(? not sure how to describe it otherwise) with pseudo twist that super dumb and making lose and gain powers at random from basicaly literaly every kind of ''species'' the manga has from Shinigami to Hollow to Quincy to whatever the hell else because of his parents that I'm not even sure who they actualy are now.

Hell, even the ending was hilariously bad and pissed of a ton of fans because of some pairing I haven't followed, because quite franckly at this point I didn't care.

I'm really easy to please, and it's very hard to make me actualy drop something (I actualy enjoyed, somehow, the anime Koi Koi 7 that was intentionnaly made extremely bad), but I just couldn't care at all for bleach past the Soul Society arc. I loved that part, and honestly it would have been one of my top 5 mangas if it stopped there, but no, Kubo pulled a twist for no reason outside getting something to base the continuation of the manga and it pretty much ruined it for me.

I'd say it stays pretty good until you get to the Fullbring arc. After that It feels like nothing makes sense and he's not even trying anymore. Random characters pop up that we've never heard hints of before but seem to become all important and pivotal to the story. The only reason I kept reading was because I had caught up to serialization long ago and thus decided to just keep up with it since one chapter a week isn't much effort to put in to see how it ended. Though, reading all the way to the end somewhat soured a series that I really enjoyed for a time.

I just want to say that never let anyone decides for you. You should see it for yourself, continue reading it and if you didn't like it, then drop it. Just don't drop it just because a lot of people said it got worse.

Since you are asking if it is worth to keep reading Bleach, I would like just to answer it is! Bleach is my favorite manga. Sure there were some disappointments, but it's good... at least for me! :3

Try to continue reading it... You may or may not like it, but it's up to you. c:

Ok. I have been thinking that what I'll do is re-read what I've already read and then make a decision based on how interested I am afterwards. Thanks

It does become utter shit after SS, no lying about that. Still, you might as well finish it you're enjoying it so far.

Arrancar arc has great build up even though it has an anti climatic end, it's worth the ride. A lot of stuff about Ichigo is revealed in the following arcs so they are worth checking out.

I prefer Arrancar arc to Soul Society, so I'd say it's totally worth it.
