Did anyone else feel this way? I'm not trying to bash on you about liking this show, but I have half the mind to drop it. I don't know why but I'm not being entertained. Momonga isn't even very fun to watch for a villain, and the only laughs I've had were when Shalltear and Albedo fought over Momonga's affection and when they chatted about Momonga's off spring (which was amusing because how do you procreate when you're a skeleton?)
For me this is bordering on being another SAO, being a show with a great soundtrack, great character designs, that I just couldn't get into that might end up forever on my on-hold list. If it gets better and comparable to my favorite game world shows, (Accel World, Log Horizon, and No game, no life) then how so?
IDK i was really looking forward to a show about a guy who turns into a villain, but the MC isn't even transitioning into the role, he's just boring and is like 'Oh why didn't i feel anything when I killed them? I guess i'm not human anymore.' What kind of crap is that? Where is the emotion of struggling on the inside many villains harbor?

Anyways I'd like to give this a try still even if its boring me. People, you can either convince me why NOT to watch it, or WHY you liked it so maybe I'll reconsider. Otherwise i'm dropping it, and might never come back to it.

That's the one things I like about Momonga-sama and this show. There is no emo bullshit like most MC's these days going on and we get straight to his baddassery with no f*cks given.

He has no emotion because he is supposed to be an undead... well.. actually you do see later he does still have his human feelings.. but you see it gets surpressed the moment he thinks to much on it.. and the magic that dispels it is somewhat amusing too. :P

Keep watching it does get better. It's not a long season anyways with a handful of episodes really.

He's a skeleton lich now so his emotions are restricted, that's the point.
Overlord isn't a pure action series, the character interactions are a big part of it.
It does need more seasons thou, since overlord is like a big epic.

And lol log horizon XD Shirou acts like an try hard intelligent person and that's good now? he's a joke.
and the show is filled with abandoned plot points and focuses on the brats instead of the real main characters.

I'm not a HUGE fan of Log Horizon, but it was entertaining, and the plot really was going somewhere. He is smart, sheesh why are people doubting his brilliance? One of the only Glasses wearing main characters in awhile too. This one had no clear view of anything. And the Non-emotion thing really is a deal breaker.

Except, I like emo villains, they're fun to watch (like light in death note, he was pretty amusing to watch). Ones without emotions really don't bring anything new to the table. And momonga hasn't even maniacally laughed yet and that's kind of boring.

No. That's basically it. Really just another attempt glorifying MMO's to lure non gamers. Over half the cast isn't even used and it's basically him going around wasting everyone time by being needlessly reserved.

You say that, but he sulks time and time again about his friends being gone. Which could of been an interesting narrative if they've done it correctly.

He has no emotions probably because he, and the rest of the cast, is very poorly developed. At times hes playing the role while other times hes back to being a otaku. It never explicit states why he's so bipolar either.

Up to OP if you want to wade though. Could just easily skip a lot of the useless back and fourth and watch the fight scenes. In the end it's just as open ended as it started.

It wont get better and it will follow the same pattern till the end. Though near final fight it just gets more inconsitent, when Momonga goes out of character for no apparent reason.
No wonder, dragon with no head must be retarded.

I decided to not watch it. It doesn't seem worth it and I fell to sleep watching it.

If you think Light is emo, you're an idiot. He was like, the definition of alpha genius. The only reason people like Light is cause teens and neckbeards think they're as smart and amazing as he was. Newsflash you're not. I thought Death Note was pretty shit but you're just a moron.

You made the right choice.

I liked it right off the bat, so when I saw the title I knew it wasn't going to be your thing most likely.

Emo as in emotional sometimes. Like that hack ending where he laughs like an idiot. I don't mean emo villains (they really don't exist)

Is it wrong that I laughed when after reading your post, I saw your avatar and read your name?
That almost sounds like something Narberal Gamma would say in-universe.

Anyway yes, in my opinion the show does get better, I was pretty cold during the first few episodes but it very much grew on me after the 5th/6th episode.

Did OP watch the 4th episode yet? If not, i'd suggest you to do so since that's the end of the first arc & can pretty much tell you the series' direction with it's story n characters.
Imagine a berserk anime by Yoshiaki kawajiri at Madhouse.

Now take a look at Berserk (2016).

YOU HAVE MY PERMISSION TO CRY.

Personally I couldn't stop watching after the first episode. The bickering over Momonga was, in my eyes, the least interesting part of those earlier episodes. I loved how it wasted no time in getting to the point when it came to plot, rather than bitch around all the time over useless stuff nobody likes to watch.
Then again, I guess our tastes differ, because while I did like Log Horizon S1 I have yet to finish S2, because, just as somebody already mentioned, the shows focus shifts to the annoying twats they take under their wing, which I found highly irritating. Moreover, Accel World was extremely shitty (for me at least), so I should not recommend Overlord to you if our tastes differ to such an extent :p

I just finished the last episode, and indeed, quality is relatively similar throughout. I cannot compare with the light novel, as I haven't read it yet, but I found the whole thing to be very enjoyable.

I haven't seen S2 either because i heard it doesn't finish the story and a good bit is filler. SO I decided to try to read the light novel of LH.
Regarding Accel world, I don't know why you think it was shtty. I couldn't get enough of the below average protagonist and all the feels that came with his sorrow. I mean, I can at least relate, some people probably can't. I really liked the concept that your avatar would be based on your own personality, and how he got the only avatar that could truly fly. It's something some people probably won't get. Our tastes might just differ on the MMORPG Anime, who knows?

Regarding your favorite anime, I like a good portion of them, and I'll admit one is on my favs too. EVERYONE'S taste differs a lot between people on this site. It also changes over time. Like I watched accel world YEARS ago. So maybe I'll re-watch it and think it's sht. Who knows? Re-watching things isn't the same experience as the first time.
