How old are you, and how do you feel you relate to others on MAL that are either the same age, older, or younger? What kind of user do you want to be, and does your age have any bearing on that? I used to hang out on a particular forum in my early teens, and most people told me that they often forgot I was so much younger than them, sometimes by 5-10 years. (Looking back, some of my posts were cringe-worthy as hell and I think they were just being nice.) Now though, I'm 20 years old, so I'm actually the age a lot of my friends were when I first started my internet adventure. A lot of people are younger than me, and a lot of them even seem to be more mature than I was at that age. Some of the older people, on the other hand, actually seem to have remained fairly static. I don't feel a large gap between myself and the users here that are significantly older than me. At this point, I'm kinda hoping I can be as good of an influence to some of my younger friends as my older ones were to me, now that I finally get to be the senpai. And based on what I said about the older users, I'm assuming things will be pretty much the same from here on out, lol. Discuss. |

I'm 21. I assume most people on MAL are in their later teens, unless I get a vibe from someone that suggests they're older. I mean, it explains the kinds of threads and "debates" you get on here. It's annoying as fuck, but then I remember that lots of these people haven't even graduated high school yet so it's no wonder they don't know anything. |

im 24 and yes a lot of the time I feel mentally older than a lot of mal. Most of the time though I find most of mal to be in their late teens or early 20's and just act like retards so age doesn't really matter because everyone kind of levels out at teenage levels. As for anyone under the age of 16 a world of advice on Mal |

I'm 22 and think most people on here act like children so I have a hard time relating to most of the shit on here. For instance, what the fuck is filthy frank. Theres only a few people around here that have earned my respect, age doesn't really matter to me. Age =/= Maturity. |

I joined MAL 5 days before I turned 16. I'm currently 20. I wasn't very active on the site until last year though. I don't feel my age has any bearing on anything, to be truly honest. For instance, I know users who are younger than me whom I view as more mature and sensible compared to myself, and as a result I look up to them. |

I dunno why, maybe it's because I've become so melancholic as I've gotten older, so I just want to share my experiences or whatever, but usually my favorite threads to look at are the ones that make me say "oh good lord" haha. It's definitely fun to shitpost and troll though. I think there's a very unique sense of humor that comes from being a forum goer. Especially on anything related to anime. I try to never directly talk shit on a specific poster though. Mostly because I view the mean-spiritedness of MAL as a joke, and don't actually assume most of us are that cruel, lol. |

Well, I mentally and physically shut down for the last two years, so I'm definitely still 17 at heart, lol. Or 18, at the very most. Depression can be a real bitch. Especially when you're not going to school or working. It just leaves you a lot of time to do nothing with your life. It's a little sad, really. People used to say I was really mature as I was growing up, and it was always nice to feel like I fit in with the older posters. Not that I hate having a younger heart, or anything. It's just hard to be an adult. *shrug* |

22 here... Though I just recently got into anime. I don't really think age should necessarily hold any bearing simply because everyone here has a similar interest in anime/manga etc. So people should be able to talk about their interests despite the age gap, at least in my opinion. Age =/= Maturity, so in some cases my opinion is void. Though, I at least attempt to get along with or understand others regardless of the age gap. Though, maturity does seem to sometimes be lacking on these forums. lmao. |

You didn't really define what is younger and older. From my experience there's lots of immature troll posting on forums but sometimes there are good discussions. The best experience I've gotten is actually having profile to profile comment conversations on MAL rather than the forums. |
