It depends on the light novel sales if they are going to produce a 2nd season. Mostly anime productions are only used to advertise the novel series. But if its DVD and BD sales are high, the higher the chance of producing a 2nd season.

About the sales of the light novels right now, from the 10,965 copies sold from Volume 10 last October, the 11th volume's sales were 16,596 which was released last month and both sales were got from the first week. It got a fair increase of sales but I think that it isn't enough to produce a 2nd season. But we can hope for one if sales got higher in the next few volumes. (EVERY TOKYO RAVENS RELEASE OF LIGHT NOVEL VOLUME MOSTLY APPEARS ON TOP 10 [NOT SURE]. IT ALSO HAS BEEN RANKED AS TOP 7 IN THE "KONO LIGHT NOVEL GA SUGOI" 2014 AND IT'S THE FIRST TIME TOKYO RAVENS HAD A RANK IN THE SAID RANKING.)

About the DVD and BD sales, well sadly to say, It doesn't appear on any high ranks on BD but it appeared once on the DVD sales at top 30 with only 620 copies compared to Top 1's Kuroko no Basuke 2 with 8,581 copies, they have an outstanding difference of more than 7,000 copies sold.

For now, 2nd season for Tokyo Ravens is still not considerable because of the sales, but we can hope for the future, may take 3-4 years before they may announce something new for Tokyo Ravens.

But I have hopes for 2nd season because mostly 2-cour animes based on light novels have a high probability for having a 2nd season.

Mostly of those animes come from "Dengeki Bunko" such as the ToAru series, Shana series and SAO.

But if you based on the imprint on where "Tokyo Ravens" was published, the only 2-cour anime adaptations that gets 2 or more seasons are "Slayers", "Sorcerous Stabber Orphen", and "Full Metal Panic!" which are old animes.

The anime adaptations of the light novels published under Fujimi Fantasia Bunko (Imprint where Tokyo Ravens is published) were almost OVAs, stand-alone 1-cour (11 - 13 episodes in length) and stand-alone 2-cours (22 - 26 episodes in length).

So, Tokyo Ravens might be a stand-alone anime (No season 2 or OVA or movie to continue the story). As just as I said in my first post:

But also, we can expect a miracle if Tokyo Ravens gets more popular than ever, but don't get your hopes up. It's always the production company who bought the rights, makes the decision if they are going to produce 2nd season or such.

From the looks of it, the season 2 is possible.

First is because, it seems the anime left a big impact to japanese viewers. The light novel sales has gone up and there are many promotional goods as well as DVD sales and promotional videos that has been released. And now, just this year, Maon Kurosaki as well as the Tokyo Ravens production studio has decided a colaborated single entitles "Reincarnation". The promotional video of it gives a season 2 vibes for me. ^_^

Here is the link for the video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWqada3K...

So, don't loose hope! Many anime's also came like that.
It's not a matter of talent. It's a matter of will

Why do people think open endings mean a second season is guaranteed?

They do the open ending to trick you into buying the manga/light novel.

And if this is original there is even less chance.

Well you'll never know for sure.
HiQ gets a 2nd Season even without any content left and wasted characters.

Over the past few Years 98% of the ppl said God Eater doesnt get an Anime adaption, well you guys dont have to watch it.

15years later Digimon Season 3 comes out. (Main Story Line)

Can someone please tell me or help me understand the meaning of the end?? I wanna know the meaning between Harutora and Natsume! I need to understand please? So is Harutora and his new "friends" at the end scene which is the one armed ogre and Kon basically walking away, are they going to meet Natsume's resurrection? What did Satome mean when it only kind of worked? The reincarnation thing?? So Is Natsume preparing to be resurrected for sure and Harutora is awaiting for her to enter the real world once again? And don't forget to explain the white room with Natsume and Harutora! I apologize, I'm in love with this anime. I marathoned this anime for a few days and I'm watching it all in English dub now. Please! There's so much I don't understand, I'll love you for informing me on Harutora and Natsume! <3

P.S. Excuse my excitedness but I've been all over forum pages looking for answers. I just wanna know details of starting FROM the white room when Harutora and Natsume meet in that room and so on like why the ritual only half worked. Is this kiss in the white room "real" and is Natsume resurrected back to the real world? Thanks again!! I'm a die-head fan!

Well, I think you are better of reading the LN and or the manga. But, this is the explanation given to me by someone who read those 2 ^^^

Thank you, I was hoping that the kiss at the end was somewhat real. Real to both of them at least. So will Natsume ever be able to regain human form? So I realize that she's half dragon now, too. I can't read much of the LN because I can't find English translations for the continued part(s). I'd say that this couple between Harutora and Natsume is one of the most cute and everlasting ships I have seen in anime. Now the author has me enticed in this and I do hope the continuation gets translated and eventually put into animation ^-^

Oh it was real, believe me.

[spoiler]Yes, her body is still 'alive'. Meaning it did not decompose or got buried. And no, she is not half dragon... at least I don't think she is. It would be cool though.
No, Hokuto, the dragon, is helping her soul stay in 'this side', meaning that because of the dragon, her spirit will not 'move on' and she is attached to the living world

Yes, I will be reading the LN that is translated into English this summer, hopefully and buy the LN that are translated so far. If there are any.

Also, by the phase the freken author is going, if we even get a second season, it might be until 2018, so 4 years. And I have also read that there might be a time skip, meaning that if they are 17/18 right now, the LN and anime will be picked up 4 years latter too, and they will be 21/22 years old. Again, I just read it somewhere, I don't know if it's true or not.

So Natsume is physically alive at the end? In that case, why does Harutora suddenly disappear in the white room? Why is Natsume in the white room in the first place? What is the meaning of the white room? I've only heard from here that it's a place that is not the living not the spiritual world. Haha, excuse my outburst of questions. ^-^

But you did narrow that down very well, thank you Jose07. I request that you fill me in on the Light Novel too when you go to read it this summer. Everybody who watched, read, and liked this anime surely wants a season 2, and the author has more room now to add canon detail and story plot. This is basically a new start now since Harutora/Yakou are now "intertwined". I'd say things are looking up for this anime and there's no reason not to make a part 2/season 2. I see the potential anyway ^-^ But you do know that if it's going to have romance like part 1 did, I hope the author doesn't disappoint. There is so much he can do with the genre's now. If that's the case, I hope he clarified that Harutora and Natsume are a "couple." I say couple because everybody knows they're soul mates, but the author can manipulate that term, ya know? xD

Don't think it's happening. Apparently the sales weren't that good.

sadly this was your normal late night anime meaning that it needed to make money though dvd sales and not through ratings. In the end this show didn't sell for shit so the chances of a season are ZERO baring some king of miracle.

It's not S2.

S2 is unlikely because of low sales. It's sad. Especially for me, because I'm one of those person who gets no enjoyment from reading a translated action LN. Mainly because the trans are monotonous, I feel highly disconnected and cannot enjoy them at all.

this series have a troublesome LN, if i'm not wrong, in 2016, they're not release any volume yet. So the anime also lack of source. And for the anime, I guess everyone are curious about Natsume and Hamatora relationship than the magic world itself.

I have read a number of novels that go after the anime's end. It's all too boring, compared to the animated part (and not enough Kon!).
Also, I don't feel there is enough of them to make a good second season, at least until all that boring buildup reaches the next climax.
I am not sure how many novels are out right now, and if they did reach the climax. Baka-updates lists it as 14 volumes long, and the first season took 9 volumes. Can somebody look at baka-tsuki's page for the work or some other source?
