| If you're looking for modern takes on mythologic story: -There is this 1969 Japanese movie: Funeral Parade of Roses, which is an adaptation of Oedipus story set in the Japanese society of the 1960s, it inspired Kubrick when he directed A Clockwork Orange. -There's also that 1950 French movie: Orpheus from Jean Cocteau (it's part of a trilogy, but I've only seen this one.) set in France. It has one of the best line I've heard in a movie: "What does marble think when it's being sculpted? It thinks, "I am struck, insulted, ruined, lost." Life is sculpting me. Let it finish its work." - I've also heard really great thing about this 1989 Italian movie: Nostos: Il Ritorno which narrates the story of Ulysse. I haven't watched it but It was highly recommended to me. |
