| I was sorry to see Jiraiya go. T_T but Im dreading this fight coming up between Sauske and Itachi. Mainly because Im afraid Sauske hasn't healed up to 100% yet. Also I was a little disappointed when I heard Pain's master plan. Destroying the world with a super weapon is so generic evil. I suppose it will work though. I was happy to see Hinata and Naruto working together finally!! |

| Finally, an appearance by Zetsu! the arguement between the two personalities made me even more intrigued about the guy. My first thoughts were that the identity of each of the 6 Peins is written to a corresponding page number of his novel. since there were 7 numbers, one of indicate the page in which Pein's true identity is written. |

| Oh my... Such an exciting chapter!! I feel so sorry for poor Jiraiya-san... I really didn't want him to die. But I have faith in Kishimoto-sensei's plans ^^ And finally, Naruto and the others appeared again! I wonder what'll happen with them now... And Sasuke....And Itachi... The final battle will begin!! >___< I was so looking forward to this, but now I'm a little hesitant... Awesome chapter! Can't wait for the next one! |

There's probably some pretty heavy symbolism going on with that frog jumping into the water next to Tsunade and reflecting the images of the Hokages, but I'm not smart enough to figure it out. Plus, we didn't get the "shounen moment" where, at the moment of death, Naruto "felt" something, but wasn't sure what it was. :) Buuuut . . . if he is dead, it wasn't a bad death at all. Very nice chapter. |

| It was a joke, wow way to serious, we are discussing if Jiraya is alive and if the emo brothers will fight so just take his "prediction" with the rest. Glad to see Jiraiya have a good death, glad to see Naruto's fight again, and glad to see the emo brothers will finally fight after way too long of a wait, now if only the other 9 rookies could show up before this show ends. |

The DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER warning is if you were to go to previous Naruto chapter threads for example and post that Jiraiya died in 383. You just can't do that. Anyway, back to Naruto. Uhh... RIP Jiraiya. I'm glad the whole thing with Jiraiya is over. I'm sorry, but I found it dull. Sasuke and Itachi had better fight in 384, I don't want them to be staring at each other or whatever for the next 10 chapters while we deal with whoever else. |

Sasuke vs Itachi - Don't care in the slightest. Even if he is a main characater, I'd like this series just as much if he didn't exist. Naruto dream team vs Tobi - Should be interesting, I like Tobi, and it'll be nice to see naruto and hinata fighting together. |

| This chapter was great. Even though Jiraiya died, it seems that Itachi and Sasuke will fight in the next chapter. I doubt it though, because Masashi has a tendency to drawn these things out. |

| Thus ends the Tale of Jiraiya the Gallant arc and I didn't really care about it. I don't want to come on here and just rag on the series, but nothing here really worked for me. Never really cared for Jiraiya, didn't find the fight interesting and had trouble following the flow of action at times, and a lot of the exposition seemed kinda clunky. Besides, while I like the structure around the prophecy, and think that having Jiraiya spend so much time convinced that Pain was the prophesied disciple only to remember Naruto at the end was a nice way to both give Naruto some importance but to reflect on some poignancy with Jiraiya's life (the emphasis on his failings to his success) I'm not sure I like the decision to turn Naruto into prophecy, a fated being of grand importance. Clearly he was always going to be giving the series is about him, but making it seem like absolutely destiny in the series isn't something I'm fond of. It just feels like it takes something away from the character themselves, from their work and growth. Also, I fond those two toads annoying. Also, wonder what the deal with Pain is because they're treating it like the reveal to his identity is going to be something that the audience will react too strongly. I didn't care for the is it Nagato or Yahiko angle because those were two characters who were seemingly invented throughout the mystery, like they were introduced after the mystery was already established so rather than developing any emotional attachment to them, it just felt like the characters existed in order to create a sense of mystery, rather than characters, the two felt like puzzles pieces. And without emotional investment within those pieces, it's hard to be invested in it. Mystery itself is not compelling enough, at least not here. At least not yet. On the positive side, I did like that Jiraiya's interrogation method was just tickling them with a feather, and on the chapter in particular, I like the visual story-telling. Jiraiya's sinking into the sea as he dies, the blank panel where he notes the sequel will be Naruto, then only a page or two away, Naruto comes popping out from the water, showing visually a passing of a torch, it was a nice touch and I'm glad Kishimoto still sprinkle's in these kind of visual story-telling touches. |
