Most of the highly rated stuff don't even deserve there rating -_- The show being good or not is subjective, I'm a fan of GTO as well and I liked this show but I'd like to comment on that statement that says Hunter x Hunter is one of the best airing shows.

For real? -_- I've never watched something as shitty as Chimera Ant arc, it was really one of the worst things I've ever watched, back then Hunter x Hunter had quality but based solely on Chimera Ant arc I'd rate it at best a 5.

Hunter X Hunter deserves it's rating because more people like the Chimera Ant arc than hate it like you do.
Which also applies to the rest of the shows in the top list he claims they don't deserve the rating.

Yep, the undertone to his words is that "all your opinions are crap if I don't agree." Luckily, he said "For real?" which adds a small sense of understanding to how things work.

It's funny how fans and haters constantly try to outretard themselves.

It's blatant fanservice and wish-fulfilment polished to absolute perfection. All of the threads arguing about whether it's bad or good and whether the games are logical are a testament to how people have been taken for a ride by this stupid bloody show, and hence its true greatness. It gets a 9/10 from me.

I really wonder how people think there's wish-fulfillment in this series. That's almost dumb as old farts insisting "people love super-hero movies cuz wish-fulfillment". Derp.

You have a point there, but I suppose the context of the series, in particular the situation of the two MCs and the setup of the whole Disboard universe, makes me want to label it with 'wish-fulfilment'. It's simply an intuitive description of much of what goes on.

So have NEET/hikikomoris who are transported to a world where they are unbeatable, because they've played all the games and know every single strategy.

Totally not wish-fulfillment power fantasy for NEET/hikikomoris.

You don't understand how otaku (in this case NEET) psyche works. Similarly, people also tend to misunderstand on Outbreak Company. Otakus are happy as their hobby is secluded from mainstream. They just want to stay where they stand right now. NEETs are happy with their current situation (being a leech on their parents, enjoying life). Also, they don't want (or don't care) their hobby be socially acknowledged. If any story that has otaku as protag is wish-fulfillment, then almost every genre can be said as wish-fulfillment, harem, romance and SoL for example. Why did people watch K-on, did they dream of being a female highschooler doing cute things? In reality it's just that NGNL has OP protags who happened to be NEET. Is Spiderman movie trilogy a wish-fulfillment for nerds or timid people? If you think so, I'll have to call you an old fart.

K-On and other fluffy SoL are for escapism since they are meant to be heartwarming shows. There is nothing wrong with that.
Spiderman has flaws and teen angst with him, he's not a perfect genius. He is just relatable if you share some qualities.

Then we have our OP geniuses which are just like an otaku, and are extremely smart, again just like otaku like to think they are. Precisely a power fantasy in the most direct manner. That is what I see.

NGNL is wish-fulfillment (this word is too hard to type ffs) if they actually think like that in secret, but they don't. It's not like teenager fantasy or chicklit. Otaku only could want to be normal like normal people who aren't otaku, and they've always wanted to enjoy among themselves. It's not like girls dreaming of prince on white horse or love-triangle with rich-as-fuck guy and wild-but-kind guy, or timid middle-schoolers dreaming of taking revenge on bullies. They actually wish those, so w-f comes into existence when they are protag and the plot is set. Meanwhile, does otaku wish to be powerful and popular using his otaku traits? That's a big no, thus, NGNL is not a w-f.

And I rest my case. Your other points are valid.
