I usually use www.play.com too as they are cheaper than what they are in shops.

There is also a collecters shop in Glasgow I go to called Forbidden Planet. The site is http://www.forbiddenplanet.co.uk/

If I cant find a series then I order it at http://www.justmanga.com/ where it is delivered straight from Japan

There's a chain called Travelling Man who are quite good, at least the one in Newcastle is. I don't know where any others are apart from York and Leeds. The Forbidden Planet in Newcastle is different to the one in Edinburgh too.

Yeah, HMV's still good for anime DVDs, at least my local store is (Manchester).

Another place I've found some hidden gems is in a store called CEX, which basically sells second hand games and DVDs amongst others. (I've never had a problem with damaged disks with some 30 odd plus purchases from there).

They have a web site for online purchases and for selling your stuff:
www.cex.co.uk

Use this page to find the store nearest you:
http://www.cex.co.uk/stores/

Hope this helps.

If you live in London then there are 2 stores to look out for:
- Orbital Manga
- Forbidden Planet.
Both stores are around the Charing Cross/Tottenham Court area.

www.tokyotoys.com - UK-based store, have a shop in the Trocadero in Picadilly, London.

There are a few Forbidden Planets around, such as Croydon and Southampton too.

CEX can be useful if you can find something you want.

There's also a place called Dave's Comics in the North Lanes in Brighton not too far from the station, they sell a few figures really cheap sometimes and have a decent selection of often hard to find manga (Uzumaki & BLAME! ♥).

I tend to find HMV is way over priced on much of the anime the sell, certainly the Noein boxset. £50... can get if from Amazon (and did) for £18 so HMV isn't on my list of places local to buy anime.

Where i am there are so few places that sell anime beyond akira and big western released stuff... its depressing, though i have found in general buying it online saves your wallet loads!

There are Forbidden PLanet stores all over the place, but the manga prices there have shot up recently, bought Parasyte vol. 6 the other day for £9 o__O

Better to go online and order them from places like Amazon and Play, they also have some good deals sometimes and it's usually always cheaper.

Yup, Orbital used to be pretty competative price wise until Viz started putting UK RRP's on their manga. You could give Gosh a try. It's just of Tottenham Court Road.

There's a place in Nottingham called Page 45 and according to Rebellion (publishers of 2000AD and Judge Dredd Megazine) it's one of the top stores in the country when it comes to manga and comics.

I'd recommend Gosh. Their prices are pretty good and they stock more unknown manga as well as the popular stuff, so there is a few good discoveries to be made there. I don't really think too highly of Orbital - they never seem to have full series in or first volumes of things. Forbidden Planet of course have amazing stock but their prices are something else. All three stores are very near each other though so I guess it's worth visiting all three. Gosh is down on Great Russell Street. Fopp on Earlham Street is a pretty good place to buy anime, but half of the stuff is overpriced. Nevertheless, a few bargins here and there. It's near Gosh, Orbital and Forbidden Planet as well. Convenient.

I buy manga from Waterstones. Some people get it off amazon, but that can be expensive. You can get anime off Amazon aswell, i think (again, probably expensive) You can also get anime in HMV.
Hope it was useful!

Of all the listed sites in this thread, the cheapest to get fairy tail mangas seems to be book depository. But its still around £5.50 per volume, meaning if i were to get all the english released volumes, id have to pay 160 pounds. Thats ALOT to me. Does anyone know someplace else to get mangas for cheap.

Btw, i went into waterstones the other day and they were selling em for £7 a volume, thats like £209 for 29 vols. damn.

This website is where I buy my action figures, it ships worldwide , prices are actually quite good. But the charm is customer support, these guys answer all your questions when the rest of the world is supposed to be sleeping.

I recommend 10/10

I am just going to say this Travelling Man and Forbidden Planet have a good selection.

HOWEVER they are highly overpriced and most of their content is not worth it! ok Forbidden Planet wants £15 for episodes 1- 5 on dvd are you bloody kidding me?! and Travelling man wants £10 - £15 for each volume of manga.

World Wide Anime (www.worldwideanime.co.uk)

They have a good selection with a lot of their stuff being really well priced (cheaper than Amazon). I've ordered from them once before and the delivery was quite fast as well.

I've been buying anime and manga for more than five years, so thought I would chip in with some of my preferred online shops for anime (or at least the ones that haven't been mentioned yet):

Anime-On-Line - This store is owned by the guys who run MVM, so you will find their BluRays and DVDs at great prices here. They sell other distributors products too, along with manga/novels and some merchandise. Top notch customer service. They send everything by first class Royal Mail. Payments by card or PayPal.
All the Anime - The official webstore of Anime Limited. They occasionally have limited time 'Early Bird' deals for their upcoming releases. They only sell their own products. The best customer service you will find anywhere. They will send everything by first class Royal Mail, but often you won't get a dispatch email until after the postie has delivered it. If you order something really expensive (like £100+) then they might use UPS instead. Payment by card or PayPal.

And some for manga/novels:
SpeedyHen - Their prices can often be the best you can find for light novels. They also sell DVDs and BluRays but at slightly high prices. Small items will be sent through Royal Mail second class, and anything bigger by Yodel courier. Payment by card or PayPal.
Wordery - Their prices fluctuate a lot, so it's worth keeping an eye on whatever it is you want for a few weeks until you see it at a good price, assuming you have the patience for that. Superb customer service in my experience. They normally use second class Royal Mail, though for a few quid extra you can get faster delivery if they have it in stock at their warehouse. Payment by card or PayPal.
