I have seen quite a few people who make it too obvious that they are only saying that they like subs better for the sake of saying it. I mean, there are also many anime where I myself hate the dubs, and like the subs better, but I always watch both to see which I like better. I just wanted to point out that a lot of people don't seem to be doing that at all, which is the only real thing that bothers me. |

| Subs *Sometimes content of the animation is missed while reading the subs. (Though for me, I can read it without taking my eyes off the animation.) *Mistranslations (But after you've watched so many japanese dubs, you start to realize where the errors are.) *Bad Timing/Encoding (Crappy subs group. Don't use them.) *Reading (Sad, but quite a few people simply hate reading.) Dubs *Lip syncing to a different language. This goes syllable by syllable, so the script is often altered to sound awkward to match translations to an extent, or in some extreme cases, the conversation is completely changed from what it originally was. *Awkward voice acting. Raito from Death Note sounded like a sadistic maniac in the original death note from his tone... In the dub, it sounded more like he was being aroused by his own thoughts. Maybe its just me, but people do seem to moan about it often. O_o *Subs can't be legally obtained unless the DVD you buy has a subtitles feature after licensing. Don't even get me started on sub mistakes. I got most of the detective conan series because I thought it was a decent dub. However, when I switched over to the subs to see what kind of job was done on them, I noticed quite a few mistranslations or sentences/words cut out and replaced. Don't americanize the subs... Please... :( I can't think of anything else at the moment, but that sums it. I generally prefer subs, but sometimes the voices are too annoying in japanese. (Yusuke from Yu Yu Hakusho sounded like a little kid. But I could've been biased as I watched the dubbed version first when I was around 7...) |

| well this is the result of those dubing people don't listen to the original japanese version... eventhough all of the words in japanese can be translated into english...their pronunciation is different sometimes...like "re", in english we pronounce it as "re", but japanese pronounce it as "le" sometimes...so its the same thing as japanese people try to speak english... |

| For those who don't know... English is not pronounced as it is in Japanese. There is actually a form of 'translation' of sorts that changes English into Japanese pronounciations. The main reason is due to the fact that the Japanese language lacks of some sounds like 'th' and 'r'. Hence names like 'John Smith' becomes 'Jon Sumisu', 'Computer' transforms to 'Computaa' and 'Fax' turns to 'Fakkusu' (Or something similar, can't remember.) English names, once 'translated', can be written in Katakana* form, which gives another reason why it is done so. Similarly, English tends to string words together, while Japanese breaks it down by them with no exceptions. Hence words like '永遠', pronounced as 'eh-EE-eh-enn' and romanised as 'eien' makes English-speakers stumble. *To put it simply, katakana is a system in which each symbol represents a certain sound, like 'te'. |

Honestly, I could respect your opinion, if you actually posted some decent reasons behind it, but just like almost every else, all you are basically saying is: "OMG, teh Subzzzz rule'n teh dub is teh sux cuz its not teh originalzzzzz" =P . Not to offend anyone, but hardly any of the sub elitists here have actually posted any valid reasons for why dubs are bad. As for me, I won't just be the typical person who goes with what the majority of the crowed says, simply just because they all say it. I see things and judge them for myself, and I have decided that not all dubs are bad, and some are downright superb ;) . |
| I tend to stick to the subs instead of the dubs because half of the time the characters sound too corny. Although that is not always the case... I preferred Full Metal Alchemist in English rather than Japanese. The voices went better with the characters. The dubs for Last Exile were awesome as well. So I guess it all depends on who the companies choose to do the voice acting. |

| I think I prefer subs to dubs for the simple fact I started watching subs first. I hadn't ever watched anime until a friend told me to watch Bleach and Naruto....So I downloaded the subs and started watching...Been hooked ever since. So if I had watched nothing but dubs I bet I would like them a lot more. |
