The whole series is just like Infinite Ryvius, Death Note, Count of Monte Cristo and Eureka Seven. You have the shots of a humongous explosion + pregnant character... The list goes on.

It was boring in the end because it was just drama played out for the sake of sympathy and runs the beaten path. The plot twist was just boring and the producers threw out consistency of Lelouch, just like Light in Death Note, in favor of plot twists because they just wanted to end this anime series.

The anime just ran the beaten path in the end even though it had potential to go right up there to become a classic.

6/10 for entertainment value

4 points are docked because of:
Inconsistency in characters and unnecessary development of flaws in Lelouch since his fatal flaws were revealed last season.
Plot twists just like in Eureka Seven (unoriginal)

with all the complaints and" flaws" that some has mentioned G2 still managed to be in one of the top ten rated animes of all time, in my books its def.10, maybe thought too much of the wrong things while watching the series? netherless it has its hype for a reason, cuz ppl just love it that much and thats why its up there on the list.

I honestly liked Lelouch's character, but when he was doing his cruel stuff or wicked laugh, I was like -headdesk-, since I just can't enjoy watching people who think their cruelity is justice.
Now I can give this show with relieved feeling a 10, lol.

Maybe it's cliche, but I just love happy endings ^^ I was afraid it would end very sad, since well.. the series had its very sad moments from time to time, and also..

But oh well, I'm glad I decided to give the show a chance ^^ Zero banzai! lol xD

i'd like to think that Lelouch was driving the cart that C.C. was in, the way she cocked her head up when asking "right Lelouch?" at the end? right after commenting that Geass was supposed to bring solitude. perhaps it didn't turn out to be the case this time?

of course maybe i'm just seeing things that aren't there but... either way, great ending, glad to see that he didn't actually lose his path and even better his friends understand his intentions so at least for those closet to him won't think of him as the definition of evil like the masses in general now do.

very very enjoyable show.
season 1 - 10/10 it blew me away
season 2 - 9/10 a mass disappointment from what I expected from season 1
overall - 10/10

One question still remains... how exactly did ohgi and viletta survive that fall off the cliff after sayoko tried to kill viletta?

My question is:

Overall a very enjoyable series. Pretty deep at times. Many twists and turns that may seem outrageous, but it all came together in the end and that's that.

Alright, it seems that the last episodewas pretty complex and out of most of the people I've talked to, a lot of people don't seems to get it. I'm going to tie up all the lose ends with this post.

The Code is the power of immortality, which C.C. has. The 98th Emperor of Britannia, Charles, has the Code. He transferred the Code to Lelouch while strangling him in episode 21. Lelouch wanted this, and he deliberately told Suzaku to not interfere.

However, the Code does not activate unless receiver dies first. This is shown when the nun kills C.C. after transferring the Code to her. Charle’s Code activated when he shot himself. Here is one of the big misconceptions that most people have: The transfer of the Code does not involve death of the transferrer. The nun was crazy and killed herself after she transferred her code. VV was injured from the battle and died. So basically, after episode 21, Lelouch had Charle’s Code (inactivated) and C.C’s contracted Geass.

When Lelouch got stabbed by Zero/Suzaku at the end, his Code was activated. What supports this is that Nunnally got Lelouch's memories when she touched her, just like Lelouch did when he touched C.C. back in Narita. The only way this could have happened is his Code activating. This pretty much confirms that he has the Code.

Unlike C.C., and Charles, who lost their Geasses because the people who contracted them died, Lelouch didn’t obtain C.C.’s Code and thus kept his Geass, while having the Code (which he obtained from Charles at the same time). Lelouch therefore has achieved CODE GEASS.

Basically, Lelouch is the person driving the cart in the last scene. He, who is now immortal, travels the brand new world he has created together with the also immortal C.C. C.C. talks to Lelouch in the end by saying: "Geass is the power of kings, it will isolate you... well, I guess thats a little wrong... eh, Lelouch?"

Now comes the second big misconception. A lot of people say C.C. was just talking to the dead like with Marianne, that's not true. She could only talk to her because of the nature of her Geass which allowed her to implant herself into the "hearts" of others. That's how she was able to talk with Marianne. Lelouch's Geass was entirely different, meaning that she could only have spoken to him if he was there. Also, the fact that the cart driver is masking his features completely supports this fact, considering the fact that Lelouch is now considered dead.

well said... exactly the same i thought.

mulderman said:
Here's some food for thought:

If Lelouch is not dead, then wouldn't that make his "retribution" bullshit?

nope, because LL mad a "new" contract with C.C. after he was stuck in her memories, the contract was about: to make her happy/smile (evidence is in ep24, when they both were about to get in their knightmares! beeing disturbed by kallen)!

the only thing that i miss about this ending, was a hint for Nunnally that hes not dead and now can live freely in happieness together with the person he loves (in my opinion)...

they should have stretched the "yeah happy world is now going to work together" part!

When Nunnally took LLs hand she entered his memories and finally understand that he was even lying to himself, just to make a friendly world for her... god damn, that moment was just too hard to take, i watred my eyes, maybe i lost 2-3 tears(like shirley end). i expected this end but it was better made then i thought it would be!

its a bit hard to judge this series, because there were things i loved about it and other things i disliked but overall i think it was a just a very enjoyable show!

all hail immortal couple!

PS: they just could have shown a short clip where nunally is standing up and running into his brothers arms, that would have been awesome :D

There's two things that R2 needed to explain:
-Did Li-Xingke die from his illness? (since he wasn't at Ougi and Viletta's wedding)
-What ever happened to Kanon? (Oh wait, he's probably being butler to Schneizel)

Some things that i felt weren't necessary for the show:
-The whole Marianne deal with Charles, i mean yeah let's find out that she's the total opposite of what season 1 portrayed her to be, but leave it at that.
-The excess amounts of fanservice (normally i never watch shows with any fanservice, but geass was the only exception)
-The filler episode before Shirley died (Really, what purpose does it have?)
-Schneizel (He was all neutral for season 1, then at the end he becomes bad guy only to get geassed..He would have made a great final enemy, leaving the show to maybe have another season..or OVA)

Other than that, for the first 24 episodes i gave Geass a 7/10, but the ending made me laugh (When Nunnally fell out of her chair >:D), cry (SOMEONE DYING *Cough*), and laugh moar (The bad Orange pun that Sunrise HAD to mention).

First season: 10/10
Second season: 8/10

Now hopefully Sunrise doesn't screw up Gundam's ending, or else i will look forward to their financial suicide.

Wow, I think some people really need to stop taking the opinions of others about a show so personally. It's not personal, so shut up unless you have a valid argument against a valid statement. And no, 'i thought it sucked' is not a valid statement, therefore 'no u suck, i thought it was awesome' is not a valid argument. Ok, so now that that's clear, I'm going to move on.

I personally thought (yes, as in my opinion is) that it was and amazing and an epic ending. The scene with Lelouch's death made me cry. I'm just a sap like that. Mostly, I cried because of the things that Nunnally said, I was sad for her. (Just like when I cried at the end of FMA because I was sad for Winry. Wow, I just realized the situation is very similar.)

Anyway, I also personally think that Lelouch is alive, you know, with C.C. at the end.
I think it's very valid, but I would be so happy if they confirmed it.
Oh my goodness, they just love to leave people hanging.

Maybe I should write a review for this, but I'm too lazy.
And I totally know I finished this super late.
I've was on track with it but then I started putting it off...

Since all Lulu wanted was a good future, and all C.C. wanted was to be loved...
Now they can live together, forever, happily ever after.

And they can't associate themselves with anyone from their pasts again.
Since they're immortal, they would continue to live while others died.
And Lulu wouldn't want to see Nunnally again, knowing that she will eventyally die.

Thought I should say that.
My mind won't stop bugging me until I get it all out.

Oh! Maybe they should make a series about how it's the future and mankind has once again turned down the path of evil and destruction, so C.C. and Lulu have to come to the rescue. But would they really have any motivation to do that? Maybe they'll just want to do the right thing and set the world straight again? Man, that would be awesome...

I guess I'm ranting now.
Maybe I'm a bit tired.
Yeah, sleep sound good...

Have to catch up on Gundam 00 now.
I'm a couple of episodes behind.

I still find it hilarious after everything Lelouch does in the two seasons, you all still love him. If the dude existed in real life you'd beat the shit out of him because there would be 90% chance he killed someone you know with a stupid smile on his face. Actually even worse, he would have killed your loved ones with a gay pose.

Finally finished second season. Although I think the first one was much better, I still enjoyed it a lot. The ending was good but predictable and rushed.
Like a lot of people here, I also don't believe that Lelouch really died (CCxLelouch fan).
The only thing I'm really dissatisfied with is Schneizel - what the **** happened to him in the end? He is one of few characters in CG that I like and I think Sunrise didn't use his full potential as Lelouch's archenemy (not to mention his 180 degrees character change in 2nd season).

was it a change?
not for me.
LL didn't try to explain himself to others or to make excuses. In oter words, he was lying more and more form the beginning of the series. In the end he just felt as he cannot tell the truth to anyone (he told Nunnaly he loved her only when she was under the Geass).
It was like C.C told him in season 1, he had to distance himself from the ones he loved. And he sure did! Isolating himself from everyone, he achieved his goal - a new world.
So, for me, the so-called change was just a method, a plan to achieve his final goal.

OK, so now to the point. When I saw few first eps of CG I was like "WTF?". It seemed like a nasty mix between Death Note (one guy, wicked power, create a new world), GitS 2nd Gig (society problems: in CG - Numbers, in GitS - immigrants) and Gundam (we all love mecha). "So, let's see what's so ace about it" I told myself. And yeah, I just finished 2nd season.
What do I think now? Well, I loved the ending as much as I love Lelouch. I mean, the character. It was just well written. At first I thought he was dead, but then... surprise? :D
It's not as if I'm a total fangirl or sth, but I enjoy watching the series because of well-made character. I can't say I didn't like C.C. or Shirley (she was so cute with her desperate love for Lulu), but the handsome prince of solitude beats all.
I liked the second season more, although the Black Knights joining forces with Shneizel were the worst thing ever imo. The ending was tricky and matched the whole story (but it still was kinda unexpected for me). Not a 10 for me, but still was fun to watch.

PS. I prefer to call Viletta other name, Chigusa. It's much cuter.

I seriously don't see why people criticize it cos the ending makes up for the 'botched' characters in the middle of the series. What they fail to realize is that lelouch is the protagonist and the other characters dont matter as much.

Even though I didn't really understand half of what was going on, it did not stop me from watching and enjoying the all the episodes, especially the very impressive ending.
So from one who is very new to anime and doesn't have a whole lot of brains left due to advancing age, come on, I hope you critics lighten up a bit! I agree with everyone else-what made you invest your time in watching if you hated what you were seeing?
Excellent animation, especially the aerial fights and the showdown between Kallen and Suszko in the last episode (but who would think they would be discussing something so heady as the individual's place in society in between parrys and thrusts?). And the scene on the staircase between Lelouch and Kallen in episode 22 was quite touching.

So poor Lelouch is doomed to roll in the hay with C.C. forever (ok-sorry if I've offended you prudes but I could not resist)! That's OK-I'm a believer that bad boy Lelouch (love those violet eyes!) is still alive and I'm glad that in the end they were able to get together.
10 out of 10 in my book for the entire series.
Hope they have enough sense not to make another but five will get you ten they will, which would be sad because I don't think the series would be just as good. I hope that they have enough sense to leave well enough alone!
(and what would they call it-Code Geass Resurrection?)

I doubt anyone will read what i wrote, specially when its hidden over the least armaggedon that went loose on MAL.
But anyway....
It was an very good show.
It passed surpassed my rating system with flying grades.

One thing people complained and i find compleatly stupid is the fact that marianne wasn't dead after all.
Fuck that. Seems pretty much original and interesting for me.

Too bad i didn't had Nina killed, but i got Schinaizer, the old fuck, Marianne, and some stupid assholes killed instead.

Heh, i can't bring myself to like suzaku, but i really don't hate him anymore.

Damn this show is good in manipulating people's opinion.

I won't bash on people who didn't like it, because i found a lt of flaws in this anime as well.
But that really didn't tarnish the anime for me at all.

After all its not like its posible for something so perfect to exist.

And besides, I disliked death note, but its not like i went berserk over the fans...
(Actually,. i did like it. But after the happenings in the end of the first middle, i figured out it would go towards a trainwreck.
Guess what i was right. Thank god i bailed out before it.
So i could enjoy Death note without havint to lower its score.)
