Why don't people read the manga to avoid spoilers?

This is out of genuine curiosity, not being a dick, but why don't people read the manga to to avoid fear of anime spoilers? I spend a lot of time on the internet and I always see posts or memes that reveal some type of spoiler for an anime series, and the comments are often hateful towards the original poster for revealing the spoiler(s). I've always been thinking, if these people hate spoilers so much, why don't they read the manga, so that they freely surf the internet without the fear of being spoiled? I do have to admit, there are legitimate reasons for choosing to not read manga.
For example, some people, like me, just don't like reading in any form. But if you're like me and you watch subtitled anime, wouldn't you still be reading the dialogue anyway? So both involve reading. If you watch the dub, then this obviously doesn't apply.
I just want to hear some opinions on why the spoiler-phobic people of the internet just don't read the manga? I mean, assuming they don't have a reading disability and have a computer with a decent internet connection, there really is no excuse. I'm sure any of the downsides that come with reading the manga are greatly overshadowed by the fact that they don't need to be afraid of spoilers on the internet anymore.
Getting rid of spoilers is out of the question, because, let's face it, it's the internet, and there will always be those assholes who post spoilers like nothing.
Would just like to hear some opinions and comments on this subject.

Some people by nature love anime and would rather watch than read.

I'm one of those people, but I have one or two manga that I'm following at the same time.
Just need to find out how to quote this every time so I can dodge the stupid 30-character limit.

From the tip of my head:
No time to read the manga as well
No interest in watching the same stuff that one read already in a lite version
Not a fan of the medium manga but a fan of anime
Anime is generally easier to consume than manga
Availability reasons in case a manga isn't translated or only partly translated but the whole anime is subbed/dubbed even though it might only adapt a part of the original manga
Some people don't care for spoilers
Some other people can constrain themselves not to lurk on the internet where they find spoilers en masse
Some people can't stand to read on screen (for a certain amount of time and in case one reads manga online/on an ebook), a problem that ironically won't occure with videos (mostly)

Not all apply to "spoiler-phobic" people OP is focussing on but those are some reasons not to do so.
Especially the last one is a pain in the eye.

Because if they read it it would spoil the anime for them. Kinda self explanatory.

I'm a total bookworm, so what I say is biased, but for the first point - unless you're an incredibly slow reader, reading the manga usually takes way less time than watching the equivalent episodes. When I was first getting into Naruto and Bleach I eventually gave up on the anime because it was so much faster to read the manga.

Yes and no. It's easy to disprove a single point but you have to consider the other points as well.
When you read the manga and watch the anime you basically consume it twice and have much more time to spend on that one story, too and more effort since reading a manga isn't as easy as just starting a video file. Hence it's more time than necessary.
On the other hand you said yourself you gave up the anime for it. Maybe that is another reason why people don't read manga, because they tend to do the same? :)

Matter of taste.
But too bad for them if the anime won't get a second season/adapt all the manga... Than all it remains is pretty much a half-finished thing. And that's a matter of fact.
So it's okay if you prefer anime and don't want to get spoiled... but! People should stop complaining if "the anime was nonsense/unsatisfactory/left unexplained things" and so on (just look at AOT...). And that's the category of people I can't stand the most.
I still can't understand why manga are so underrated...

Because some people don't like manga.
Some don't want to read manga.
Some simply prefer anime.

Mainly just a matter of preference.

Most manga aren't translated, quite a few are though but most people are anime only folk. LNs are another story since very little of them get translated so you'll need some Japanese reading skills.

I don't quite understand that. How is reading the manga considered spoiling yourself if you continue off the same point you're in with the anime? It's (usually) still continuing with the same story, albeit with a different format. The only time that applies is when you read a point in the manga that's actually further ahead of where you are in the series as a whole, whether it's anime/manga version. Does that kinda make sense?

I do understand that people have their own preferences, but isn't that anime-only preference something that people should be willing to get over if they don't want to ever be exposed to spoilers? Or if they just want to get more into the story?
For example, I used to hate manga and all things related to reading, since I love visual stuff/colors. But when I got really into an anime series and finished the current episode, I just couldn't stay still knowing that more lies ahead, but hasn't been animated yet. With my thirst to know what happens combined with my fear of running into spoilers on the internet, I myself forced to continue off in the manga, and now I enjoy reading manga regularly.

The problem is, they shouldn't have to.

If retarded milkshake people didn't run their mouths off and spoil people for shits all the time, then we wouldn't even be in this discussion. It's putting the blame on the victim rather than the aggressor.

You could read the manga and then have the anime spoiled, which may be farther than where you are at in the manga, thus spoiling the manga.
So this doesn't really help all that much.
I mean this only works if the anime isn't entirely out yet.

I do agree that they shouldn't have to, but the reality of it is that there are always those douchebags online who always leak spoilers, and I was merely suggesting that reading the manga could ease the anger of the spoiler-phobic people. I never said they had to, but that it was a possible solution to avoid being spoiled. I'm sorry if my words sounded funny. In my original post, I wasn't intending to blame the victim, but offering a potential solution, and wondering why people don't do it.

Victim blaming is never ok. Not when there's rape or anime involved.

You're not really spoiling it for yourself if you're getting the same content, just in a different format. For example, an anime ends after 25 episodes, but it is based on a manga, which is much further ahead. If you start reading the manga at the same exact same point in the storyline that the anime ended, is that really spoiling yourself? You're still getting the same story and same content. It doesn't even have to be the last episode. Long running anime such as Naruto and One Piece are currently still ongoing, and when you get to the latest aired episode, you could continue off that exact point in the manga without breaking the flow of the storyline, which is not spoiling yourself. It's more like continuing the series into a different format.

Because it's the internet and there will always be people leaking spoilers everywhere, and there's just no way to stop it.
