For those of you who go to college: backpack or messenger?
How many textbooks do you bring with you every day?
Do you bring a laptop, or just plain ol' fashioned 3-ring binders and shit?

Backpack, laptop & note blocks.

Well, here's one 'casual discussion' that shouldn't lead into a heated argument.

I just didn't expect it from kawaiikats.

And...just found out those bags are called messenger bags...

Not in college yet, but I've been using them for 2 years.

I remember I carried around 3+ books when I was in high school. How do you manage?

Backpack. I bring scraps of papers to take notes, notebook and beer for fun. No carrying books, that's what the library is for.

You don't need textbooks for class? I'm asking because messengers look stylish as fuck, but I can't imagine how they would be functional for ordinary use.

Well, my bag is only large enough to store 1 textbook (so fortunately, only one class each day requires me to actually bring a textbook. We have alternating days now for some reason...) and maybe a few notebooks, so I don't keep a binder, only a giant folder that I stuff everything in!

Though it's like a giant purse...which I keep my purse in too...

So if you get unlucky and end up with 2 textbook classes, would you go backpack, or take multiple trips to the locker/car/wherever? Or has that never really been a problem? Thanks for weighing in.

Well last year, on certain days, I did have to carry 2 textbooks, so i just handheld one while everything else was in my bag. It was the only exercise I got!

and that quoting got fucked up...mah bad.

Backpack, notebook, lab notebook. I rarely bring textbooks since those are used mainly for homework problems

In some classes we analyse documents, but I just borrow them from the library, or make copies. Those history books are too heavy and too expensive.
I can't imagine wearing a messenger bag. It doesn't look very convenient or comfortable.

Backpack. Messenger bags look uncomfortable. Plus my backpack has lots of pockets.

My classes don't require textbooks in the classroom, so I don't bring them.

I only bring my laptop for my computer science-related classes (duh). Everything else is old-fashioned 3-ring binder and spiral-bound notebooks.

No heated arguments? Man this got boring fast.

Backpack. Messenger bags look really cheesy and are less convenient/comfortable.

I don''t use a textbook during any of my classes and hardly ever need my laptop, so I just bring some 70pg notebooks and pencils which I carry in my backpack.

There are some days that I'll bring a text book to study and I'll need my laptop, and while it's not really a tight fit, it's really uncomfortable-- granted my backpack is 8 years old, broken, and I can't adjust the fitting. So I generally only carry, at most, 2 textbooks+notebooks in my backpack and the rest I carry in my hands.

Messenger. Although, is there a difference between a messenger bag and a briefcase?

Ipad, charger, 1-inch binder with dividers and paper. Whatever textbooks necessary for the day. Wallet, epipen, Advil, bandages, pencils and pens, a pair of scissors, inhaler. Some other things in my pockets.

I carry a lot of small stuff.

PDFs are so convenient and helpful for cutting down on textbook clutter. It just sucks when you can't find one...which can be a lot, depending.

This thread is also deceptively calm...What are you planning?!

backpack,

I used to like using messenger bags , but I found that they hurt my shoulder way too much due to the uneven weight distribution >.<

Backpacks for school, and man purses for weekends=style.

Does anyone here use a duffle bag (gym bag) for carrying around textbooks and stuff?

I was doing it for a while, they are roomier than messenger bags, at least.
