It used to happen to me before Firefox 3 came out; one of my old list designs had it really bad. My list now doesn't seem to do it... don't know if that's thanks to 3 or the less obvious opacity changes in my current list.

So it's Opera's fault, huh? Then I don't mind XD I'm not willing to change it to Firefox or anything else, so let's pretend nothing happened and everything's fine :p

@izzy2008: Your list looks great, but I'd suggest rounding/softening/blurring the edges. Also, the last bit of the page where you find the copyright info can have a little bigger background. Rather than barely fitting, I think it would look better in the pure black area.

Made a new list with a simpler feel, not too sure how I feel about the color of the list. Best viewed in 1680x1050.

Could someone with a smaller resolution tell me how it looks? I think the background might get cut off.

Just set your background position to "top right" instead of "top left" and that should remedy your background cutoff problem somewhat. If the girls are still too close to the list for your tastes at a smaller resolution, you might try cropping the right edge somewhat and extending some area on the left side, which shouldn't be too difficult since it's basically a solid fill in that part.

The Agency font is on about half of all Windows systems according to this poll that I use often:

http://www.codestyle.org/css/font-family/sampler-WindowsResultsFull.shtml

It's not standard on Windows itself, but it does come with Office. If you pick something near the top of the list that should take care of most viewers (although OSX and Linux users will have somewhat dissimilar font sets.)

This is a rather nasty bug that took me a while to figure out even though I was staring right at it. And it doesn't matter where you put the Opacity declaration -- the bug spills out and corrupts the whole list with redraw errors. I just use a semitransparent PNG background to get the job done these days.

Some very nice lists on this and the preceding pages.

Lots of helpful info. Thanks alot ^^ , it looks better on smaller resolutions now.

That's a shame about certain fonts though, I really liked Agency.

I don't think it is Opera's fault (at least in full), since it does seem to correctly use the Opacity declaration in somewhat similar situations (see HERE for examples.) Also, I misspoke when I said that it doesn't matter where you put the opacity declaration -- it works just fine at the Body and List_Surround levels, but put it in either .td1 or .td2 and the wheels fall off in Opera.

Maybe it's time to submit a bug report to Opera's dev team? I'll go try that now, hopefully it will be solved sometime, if it is indeed their fault.

No it doesn't in FF 3.0.3, at least I see it exactly the same as Moony except the font but that it can't be helped as it's specific font I don't have.

Also Moony, wider means 'longer' in size I think. Like the top bar is maybe 1600px long atm, and it would be better if it was 1920 (for larger screen). I suppose he meant that, since the bar gets weird on higher resolution (same for the bg btw). But that's just minor stuff. I doubt many people have a resolution higher than 1600.

About the Font: In the printscreens I had "Junegull" in the first place but now changed to Mufferaw. My current:

font-family: Mufferaw, Junegull, Arial Rounded MT Bold;

Hum. . . Now I got it :3 Maybe it'll work if I just repeat the bar and the wallpaper for both left and right sizes no?

Moony: I think I discovered the reason, it has something to do with the thickness of the scroll bar since you used a background for the border :|
Edit: Meaning the pixel placement seems to vary a little between browsers and OSes.

@kuroshiroi: "Thickness of the scroll bar"? Oh God! Never thought of that! >.< I'm so stupid. . . But. . . if the background is centered, shouldn't it be centered with the screen? the scroll bar can change it's position?

I'm not sure why or how, but when i double checked with higher res, I also noticed the pixel trouble.

That's what I normally see, with FF 3 + Vista - 1600 screenshot

When I get on higher resolution (1920) then I can also see the white stuff everyone seemed to see before me 1920 screenie.
It doesn't happen if I don't resize FF in maximised window. If I use it just like aero I'm fine. I truly have no idea how such difference can happen though...

I don't know :) Completely fucked up IMO.

I tried changing my skin on Opera and it almost lined up. Then I tried changing the Windows theme from Classic to Windows XP and now Firefox seems to work and Opera almost lined up again.
I'm going to stop thinking about this. It's fucked up and very annoying :|

You know, to be true, I tried to do the shadow with the list itself but, I couldn't put a shadow into the text part of the list. In the end, I tried to make it like I have now and it was a sucess (at least in my screen...).

I guess we can't cheat T.T xD

aero - I usually go in 1680 ! It was someone else who suggested to make it fit for higher resolution, I was just curious and tried it.

Moony - I myself also wanted to add some shadow and effect on border (or at least try), but I couldn't get it to work. Your idea is still the best :D

Anomalous - Very nice one. But on your Currently Watching tab, your header image says 'Reading' instead of Watching ! :p
