Battle Angel Alita and it's sequel have some good depressive and angst filled drama, but it's not the main focus most of the time, so it might not be quite what you're looking for. It's still a brilliant series though, so do try it out. The instances of depression and angst are quite heavy though, and really influence the main character deeply.
Berserk have a lot of death, and some drama and angst here and there. There's also a pretty bleak and depressing mood through most of the series, and the only seemingly "good guys" are corrupt demons themselves. No sunshine here, that's for sure. Though this as well is more focused on gore and battle, and might not be exactly what you're seeking. It's still fabulous though.
Ichi The Killer is disturbingly violent and full of angsty madness, and naturally, death.
Mirai Nikki is pretty much completely centered around angsty drama. With the female lead being a batshit insane Yanderekko, what can you expect?
Lament of the Lamb is very angsty and dramatic, and a bit depressing as well I suppose.
Neon Genesis Evangelion Well, it's NGE...
Franken Fran may possibly be interesting for you, although it's more of a black comedy (of the blackest sort), it sports large volumes of angst gushing out from Fran's victims patients, along with other body fluids.
Aoi Hana Angsty Yuri romance. Expect loads of drama as well. It's not high on death and depression though.
Bradherley's Coach is fucking terrible. Depressing and angsty? Hell yes, more than I've ever seen before. Pretty much the most disturbing and depressing thing I've seen if you don't count the accidental guro shit I've come across. You want depression and angst? You've got it.
Dead Flowers stroke me as somewhat depressing, but I guess that depends on how you interpret the ending...
The Girl's Winter is a quite tragic short. Simple and perhaps a bit cliched, but delightfully so.
Hallucination from the Womb is a brilliant collection of various shorts, and none of them are particularly happy.
Shadow Star Another pearl of depression and angst from Mohiro Kitoh. Don't let the first chapters fool you, this is pretty depressing stuff.
Mohiro Kitoh's Short Stories - Zansho Another collection of shorts from Mohiro, I can't recall exactly whether or not these were particularly depressing and angsty, but knowing the man's style, I can't imagine they weren't.
Wings of Vendemiaire is yet another of Mohiro's works, and is a collection of short stories centered around the same theme. A bit weird, but certainly quite depressive.
Bokurano is the last of Kitoh's works in my recommendation, and while I haven't read it myself, I do know it's quite depressive and angst filled. Drama and death too I'm sure.
Hiroki Endo's Tanpenshu is another collection of shorts, and while not all of them are depressing, some are.
Eden: It's an Endless World is very realistic compared to pretty much any other manga, and naturally, it has it's fair share of drama and depression as well. The main character however, is not a very emotional man, and doesn't really display his depression outright. However, the characters and the story is one of the best I've seen in any manga, so it's definitely a recommendation. Expect unexpected sudden deaths of important characters as well.
What a Wonderful World features different stories from different protagonists, and they're all rather realistic, though with a slightly depressing edge. Asano Inio is a master of bringing out realistically depressive stories.
Solanin More Asano here. Solanin contains drama, angst and death, and a brilliant portrayal of the feeling you get when you have no idea what to do with your life.
Nijigahara Holograph is less realistic than it's brothers, but does not cut down on the depressive feel.
